Y/n sipped her squid flavored tea. She thought about Dingle. The squid tea tasted how they smelled.
Dingle's words from the coffee shop rang through her head. Dingle knew she ate squid, and didn't like it. Maybe she would have to choose between eating squid and Dingle. It was a hard decision. Y/n sipped more of her tea.
Y/n went to go hang out with Joe. They went to the same coffee shop Dingle was in the other day with the tiny squid. Dingle wasn't there that time.
Y/n and Joe both got a snack and some coffee.
"So, me and Dingle are working on the chemistry project tomorrow. Who are you working with?" Joe asked y/n. Y/n felt appalled that Joe was working with Dingle. She wanted to work with them! Y/n then remembered she never told Joe about her crush on Dingle.
"Dingle is really cool and awesome. I'm jealous you get to work with them," Y/n said.
"Yeah?" Joe said.
"I umm..." Y/n felt heat rise in her face. " I kinda have a crush on them.."
Joe's face lit up. "Finally! Someone not terrible! The last guy you had a crush on was stinky Ben!!"
"He was stinky," y/n agreed. The previous year, y/n had had a crush on some guy named Ben, who notoriously smelled bad.
Y/n and Joe gossiped about who else liked Dingle. They both knew that Dingle's friend, Rivo, had a crush on them.
After they finished their snacks and coffee, the pair parted ways.
Y/n walked through a damp park on her way home. She didn't usually go that way, but did because it was shorter.
In the park, she found a damp book. It had a small lock on it, and seemed like it was a diary.
Y/n took it back to her house.
She tried picking the lock, but it didn't work. Y/n tried to break it a little, but that didn't work either.
Y/n tried the key for her diary's lock, and was surprised that it worked! She had heard somewhere that the locks for them are always made the same.
Y/n opened the book. It was filled with journal entries, mostly about school complaints. But then it started talking about Dingle and less about school. The person talked about confessing to Dingle, but the rest of the book was blank.
Y/n wondered who wrote it.
