She sat in her usual spot at the open cafeteria, which was hidden away from the rest of the seats thanks to a large banyan tree. It also provided considerable shade for her to get some respite from the sweltering heat. She leaned towards her side a little and stared at her crush, while munching on her sandwich.

She had successfully made her first conversation with him. Tonight would mark the make or break of their potential relationship. She knew a lot of things about him but if she revealed the fact, it would only creep him out.

She wasn't a stalker. Her brother thought so but she really wasn't. It so happened that her roommate's boyfriend belonged to the same friend circle as him. She often overheard said boyfriend talk in admiration of the guy.

So she knew the little things about him. She knew he wanted to get into game development for a career. She knew he loves paya curry.

When she saw him around the campus, it gave her a lot more to observe and memorize in her head. He liked wearing over-sized baggy clothes. It looked good on his tall frame too. Her hands felt empty. She glanced down at it and realized she finished her sandwich. Cleaning her fingers temporarily with a tissue, she picked up her tray and stood up slowly.

Today, the position of the bins for the cafeteria trays had been altered. It was now kept only a small distance away from Raghav and his friend's table. Ayana ambled towards the bin, keeping her eyes away from Raghav. She didn't want to be caught staring, after all.

"Hey, um," A guy suddenly shoved himself into her path and rubbed his neck. She watched him, with slightly startled eyes.

"I'm in the same class as you. Strategic HR."

He received a slow "okay" meant as a question than an acknowledgement.

"So, um, I was just wondering if you were free for a coffee-"

"You're in the way buddy." A new voice joined in the awkwardness. Ayana gave a wide-eyed glance at Raghav. He smiled back at her. Then, he turned back to the guy with a visibly frosty version of the smile. "I need to get to the bins."

"Oh, er, sorry." The guy responded, wondering why Raghav couldn't just move around him to get to the bins.

"I'm not free, um...your name is..?"

God, this was embarrassing.

"Vinayak."

"Right, Vinayak. Sorry."

"It's fine." She watched the dejected guy trudge away, wondering if that would be her one day. She, then, moved towards the bins where Raghav stood.

"Does this happen often?"

"Sorry..?"

"This kind of thing. Public Confessions. Does it happen often?" He asked, appearing curious.

"Yeah." Ayana let out a soft, bashful laugh. "It's happened a few times in first year and few times this year. I've gotten used to it."

"I see," Raghav turned around. "See you tonight, then."

"Yeah." She nodded. Then, she blinked.

See you tonight?

Did that mean he was going to order?

Did that, then, mean...they had a potential friendship going on?
