Misconnection

We spend everyday talking over the phone. We would talk about our dreams, interests, lives, everything fully detailed and important to us. Our connection was non severable; Router and computer connected by an ethernet cord, The power outlet and the appliance connected by the plug, and the light switch and the lights connected by wire. We couldn't be severed without extreme consequence.

Sometimes there were signs of our contact becoming frayed. Slight disagreements turned into battles turned into wars, but in the end, forgiveness and repair triumphed. Our connection has always shown age and damage, but we would spend the effort to fix and replace something that wasn't working. Sometimes, the damage was on the side of the computer and sometimes on the side of the router, or maybe even a part of both.

But, one day, the connection disappeared. The cord and plugs were pulled. I never got a reasonable response, an explanation as to why, only ever speculation. Was our relationship never sustainable? Was our relationship ever healthy? Was our relationship just the act of two people who care very deeply drifting apart naturally?

I keep trying to make our connection active once again, but to no avail. The operator tells me everytime that your connection no longer exists, and to call again later. You're never available like you used to be, but that's not your fault. Did I do something wrong? Did you do something wrong and feel guilty for it? Do you ever even see me in public and go, "I wish I could reconnect with them"?

No matter what, there will always be a deep, unseverable connection to you in my heart. While the outlet might be destroyed, it doesn't mean that it can't be fixed. Wherever you are, your misconnection might be, I hope that you're doing okay, and I as well.
