February!

Let's Just Try

Yoshida's smile turned to a frown. "What!?"
"I just... I just can't! I'm... I'M SORRY!" February stood up and ran away to the mansion's garden.
She sat next to the violets and touched the soft petals. Tears streamed down her cheeks. February hugged her knees and buried her face into them. Yoshida ran up and grabbed her shoulders. He pulled her face up to his. Yoshida looked straight into her eyes.
"Why can't you? Don't you..." His grasp started to tighten. "Don't you like me?"
February couldn't stand it. She grabbed his shirt and pulled him into a hug.
"I would never do anything to hurt you." She whispered. February stood up and looked down at him sadly. "Which is exactly why I just can't love you."
"That makes no sense!" Yoshida cried. "If you do like me, then why can't you accept it!?"
She wiped her face with her arm. It was time for her to get a hold of herself and get serious. She kneeled next to him and grabbed his shoulders.
"I'd tell you I love you, but then I'd have to kill you." February snapped.
She stood up again and walked back to the mansion. Yoshida raced up to her and grabbed her wrist. February turned around to face him. Yoshida didn't look sad. He looked angry.
"Stop acting mysterious. No matter what it is, it won't change anything." He growled.
February felt her eyes watering up again. She slapped his hand away. "It would change everything! This is torture!" She wailed.
February fell to her knees. Yoshida sat next to her. "February." He whispered.
"Y-Yes?"
"Just tell me if you love me or not." He asked.
"Why should I?" February rolled her eyes.
"Because if you say no, I'll leave you alone. If you say yes, then you have to date me."
February looked at him. "I... I don't know..."
He grabbed her hand and stood up and kissed her. She punched him in stomach.
"I said I don't know you ding dong!" February yelled.
"But that wasn't a yes or a know so I'm gonna say it's a yes." He teased.
"Fine, I like you!" February punched him again. "Happy!?"
"Yes." He nodded. "But then why don't you date me?"
"Because it'll cause problems!" She screamed.
Yoshida stared at her. "What?"
"It'll just cause problems for me and the months! It's dangerous to date a human! If they tell someone that puts it online or whatever, you have to kill them! Trust me, April had to do that countless times! And I don't want to kill you so no! I won't date you!" February screamed and kept hitting him in the arm.
When the reached out punch her again, he grabbed her fist. "What do you mean by 'human'?"
February just noticed what she'd said. She tried to think of a good lie but she just couldn't cover up what she said. February wheezed in and out. She calmed herself down.
"Yoshida, if you promise to only tell your family, then I won't kill you." February whispered.
"O-Okay?" He gulped.
"I'm a goddess. The goddess of the month February. And all of my friends and I are called Monthies. I was sent to earth to check out what the love ratings are like. But it's hard for us to date humans because, this happens to April a lot, they tell other people. And the only way for us to not worry about the world knowing is we kill of every person who heard about it and the person who said it. So we Monthies try not to date a humans. But if you swear to only tell your parents, make sure they tell no one, then I am permitted to date you. Do we gotta deal?" February reached out her hand.
"D-Deal." Yoshida nodded, still trying to take that all in. He grabbed her hand and they shook on it.
February pulled him in for a kiss.
"ERD MER GERD, I KISSED A GODDESS!" He gasped.
"Yeah, and your about to do it again!" She laughed.
When they went back into the mansion, Emery, Lilan, and Cat were swinging on the ballroom chandelier with their dates, waving sparkling orange juice in the air. Lilia was verbally abusing the people who were supposed to get her voted over anyone else. Lilan fell off of the chandelier and started rolling around. Yoshida and February were happy that they missed whatever happened in there.
