A month had passed since the capture of the serial killer, and life had returned to a semblance of normalcy for Officer Park Jimin. Early one morning, while he was on duty, his phone rang with an urgent call from the police hotline.
"Officer Park," the voice on the other end was frantic, "this is a neighbor from 5C at Seoul Heights Apartments. There's blood leaking from the main door to the veranda of 5B, but the door is locked, and no one is answering."
Jimin's pulse quickened as he noted the address. "Thank you for reporting this. We'll be there immediately. Stay safe."
He hung up and quickly called his team, ordering them to prepare for an emergency situation. He also contacted the hospital's emergency services and the forensic team, instructing them to meet at the scene. As he raced to Seoul Heights Apartments, a sense of dread settled over him. He couldn't shake the feeling that something terrible had happened behind that locked door.
Arriving at the scene, Jimin was met by a group of concerned neighbors gathered outside the apartment building. He pushed through the crowd, his team close behind him. The sight that greeted him was chilling: a dark red liquid seeping from under the door of apartment 5B, pooling on the veranda.
"Step back, please," Jimin instructed the onlookers, his voice firm but calm. "Let us do our job."
He motioned for one of his officers to break down the door, and with a loud crash, the door gave way. The scene inside was horrific. Blood covered the floor, and the metallic scent of it filled the air. Jimin's heart sank as he took in the chaos—overturned furniture, broken glass, and signs of a violent struggle.
"Secure the perimeter," Jimin ordered his team. "Nobody in or out except authorized personnel."
The emergency medical team rushed in, followed closely by the forensic team led by Dr. Min Yoongi. Jimin's eyes met Yoongi's briefly, and he saw the same mix of determination and concern reflected back at him.
Yoongi immediately began examining the scene, his expression focused and professional. "We need to gather all evidence carefully," he instructed his team. "This looks bad, but every detail is crucial."
Jimin stepped aside to allow the experts to work, his mind racing with questions. What had happened here? Who was the victim? And most importantly, why had this brutal act taken place?
As the investigation unfolded, Yoongi approached Jimin with a grave expression. "Officer Park, we need to talk. This scene... it has some disturbing similarities to the previous murders."
Jimin's stomach churned at the implication. "You mean the serial killer we caught last month?"
Yoongi nodded. "I need to review the evidence more thoroughly, but it's possible we're dealing with a copycat—or worse, we might have missed something vital."
The weight of Yoongi's words hung heavily in the air. Jimin knew that their work was far from over, and the sense of urgency and danger was more palpable than ever.
