"The nights dragged on, and the killer remained a ghost."
Despite the efforts of the police and forensic teams, each clue led to a dead end. The city was on edge, especially after the most recent murder, but still, no one had seen the killer's face. The death toll had risen to seven, and the pressure to solve the case was immense.
In the middle of this storm, Dr. Choi Seojun—a seasoned anesthesiologist—was working his late shift at *Daehan Hospital, Yoongi's workplace. He sighed as he glanced at his watch. **10:25 PM*. The night was unsettlingly quiet. The wards were practically empty, and only the soft hum of machinery filled the hallways.
Seojun usually didn't mind the solitude, but tonight, something felt off. His skin prickled, the sensation of being watched creeping up his spine. He looked around, peering down the empty corridor. No one was there, just dim lights and shadowed corners.
*Maybe it's just exhaustion, he thought, shaking off the unease. He walked faster, his footsteps echoing in the silent hallway. But as he approached his office, the feeling that he wasn't alone only intensified. His pulse quickened, and his eyes darted around, searching for any sign of movement. **There it was again*—the distinct sensation of eyes on his back, like a shadow lurking just out of sight.
When he finally reached his office, he stepped inside quickly, shutting the door behind him with a shaky breath. He grabbed his phone, his fingers trembling slightly as he started to dial security, but before he could hit the call button, there was a sudden, blinding pain. *Bang!* Something heavy struck the back of his head. His phone clattered to the floor, and darkness swallowed him whole.
-----------------
Time passed—30 minutes, maybe 45. Seojun wasn't sure. His consciousness ebbed and flowed like a distant memory, but slowly, reality clawed its way back.
The first thing he heard was the soft, rhythmic sound of metal scraping against stone.
*Sharpening.* His body was heavy, his limbs unresponsive, and there was an intense throbbing at the back of his head. He tried to move, but his arms and legs were bound. His wrists ached, his hands numb from being tightly strapped to a cold metal table.
*Where am I?* Panic surged as his foggy brain struggled to make sense of the situation. He couldn't see much through his half-closed eyes, but he could feel the cold steel beneath him. His mouth was taped shut, the sticky adhesive pulling painfully at his skin. His heart hammered in his chest as he forced his eyes open.
What he saw made his blood run cold.
The room was dimly lit, with a strange sterile quality that didn't match the eerie smell of decay lingering in the air. The walls were lined with tools—surgical instruments, saws, scalpels, syringes—all meticulously arranged in perfect order. There wasn't a speck of blood or grime, yet the room felt wrong, like a cold tomb designed for horrors unseen by the world outside.
As Seojun's vision adjusted, he saw a figure standing over by the wall. A man—his face obscured by a hoodie—was calmly sharpening a large knife. The sound was chilling, metallic and smooth, almost rhythmic. The man turned slightly, as if sensing Seojun's struggle, and let out a low, amused chuckle.
"You really had a good sleep, doctor. I thought you were already dead," the man said with a dark, mocking tone.Seojun's heart plummeted. His blood felt like ice in his veins as the figure stepped closer, still partially obscured by the shadows. But in the dim light, Seojun caught a glimpse of something familiar, something that made his stomach churn with disbelief.*He knew this person.*

Meanwhile, back at Daehan Hospital, a nurse was frantically searching for Dr. Choi. She had checked the wards, the break room—but he was nowhere to be found. A patient had been waiting for him for over an hour, and it wasn't like Dr. Choi to disappear without a word. Worry gnawed at her as she retraced her steps to his cabin, growing more anxious with each passing minute.
That's when she noticed it. Small droplets of blood. They dotted the floor, barely noticeable, but unmistakable. She followed the trail, her heart pounding in her chest. The blood led her to a disused exit at the far end of the hospital, an old door that hadn't been opened in years. Her breath caught in her throat. Something was terribly wrong. She immediately alerted the hospital administration, and within minutes, the police were informed that a doctor had gone missing—under deeply suspicious circumstances.
--------------
At the police station, *Officer Park Jimin* was buried in case files, trying to make sense of the seemingly random murders that had been plaguing the city. His mind was already exhausted from the pressure to catch the killer. But just as he was about to call it a night, his assistant rushed in.
"Sir, we've got a call from *Daehan Hospital*. A doctor's been missing for over an hour, and there's blood in his office," the junior officer reported, his voice filled with urgency.Jimin froze. A chill crawled down his spine. *A doctor missing? Blood? Could this be connected to the string of murders?* He couldn't help but feel that gnawing dread—the same feeling he'd had when the first body had shown up. *Could the killer be targeting doctors now?*"Which hospital did you say?" Jimin asked, his voice low, steadying himself."Daehan Hospital, sir," the officer repeated.
Jimin's heart skipped a beat. That was *Yoongi's hospital*. And Yoongi was working the night shift tonight. His hands trembled slightly as he dialed Yoongi's number. It rang once, twice, then went straight to voicemail. *Yoongi's phone was off.* The knot in his stomach tightened, and the rush of fear was almost overwhelming. Was Yoongi in danger too?
"Let's go. Hurry!" Jimin barked at his team as he grabbed his jacket and rushed out the door. The patrol car sped through the dark streets, sirens blaring, but Jimin could barely focus. His thoughts raced with a singular fear—*what if Yoongi is next?* As the hospital didn't mention the name of missing doctor. Now he doubting himself.
As they approached the hospital, his phone buzzed with another update—this time from the head of the forensic unit. They had found more blood near the closed-off exit, the very one that hadn't been used in years. But the killer had somehow found a way in.
The tension between Jimin's professional responsibility and his personal fear for Yoongi was suffocating. His mind was torn between solving the case and the agonizing thought that Yoongi might be in danger. *Who was behind all of this? And why doctors?*The chapter ends with the suffocating pressure building on Jimin's shoulders. He's rushing to the hospital, uncertain if the love of his life is safe, while the killer remains in the shadows, more dangerous than ever before.
