Bright light filled up the room, disturbing all of us from our sleep. Today was the first day of initiation. I heard a few people groan as they try to wipe the sleep from their eyes. I sat up and rubbed my face.
"Good morning initiates, as you know today is day one of the initiation process. You have an hour and a half to get up and eat, we'll meet at the entrance of the cafeteria once that hour and a half is up. If you're late, you will be let go. Did I make myself clear?" Tobias walked down the length of the room looking at us all. We were all mumbling about the abrupt wakeup call but we all had to do what we can if we're going to make it into dauntless. I sat up and rubbed the sleep from my eyes and when I moved my hands, Tobias and I locked eyes for a quick second. I looked away first, afraid for what he had in store for me specifically. I'm so dreading today, but I need to be the best if I want to get into dauntless.
I grabbed the black tank top and pants that were next to my bed and changed quickly right there in the open. I heard one boy whistling as I stripped into my underwear and bra. When I put the clean clothes I turned my head into the direction of the whistle and lo and behold I saw the kid from the roof top. Jacob I think his name was. He was there watching me like the creep he is.
"Really Jacob? You're such a pervert!" Olivia remarked and looked at him.
"Never seen a stiff so...loose." He smirked at us before turning around to get dressed.
"I so want to kick his ass." I whispered to Olivia as we walked out of the dorm and headed to the cafeteria.
"So do it. Lizzie. Today is your chance once were starting the fighting portion of initiation. I'm sure your brother and the other leaders would love to see that. It would show that you're a force to reckon with and deserve a spot here in dauntless." She said to me as we turned a corner.
"Maybe. I really want to be here and I want to show them I'm worthy of being here." I looked at her and she looked to be deep in thought.
"Come to think of it. I don't think there has ever been two siblings who transferred out of their original factions to the same faction. Let alone have both make it. You could make history Lizzie. You and your brother, both in dauntless together. That'll be something." She smiled at me as we walked into the cafeteria.
"Lizzie! Olivia!" I heard Connor's booming voice call us out. He was sitting at a table with two guys. He had jumped out of his seat and walked, almost ran over to us.
"Hey Connor!" we said together. He swallowed us into a giant hug. I'm sure people were watching us but Connor didn't care apparently.
"I got you both breakfast already. I also want you two to meet my friends." He let go of us and lead us to his table. I did take notice that he stayed and sat awfully close to me when Olivia and I started to eat. I knew I would have to confront him about it later.
"Guys, this is Lizzie, and Olivia. They transferred in..." Connor started to introduce us.
"Everyone on the compound knows Lizzie. An Abnegation switching to dauntless and a first jumper is big news around here. Remember the girl from last year, Tris?" One boy spoke up. He was big and looked like he could take you down in an instant. He had short blonde hair and dark brown eyes. He looked at me dead on and smirked. "The names Morgan, Caleb Morgan." He even had the nerve to wink at me! As soon as he winked I saw Connor's fist tighten. What was going on with him?
"Yeah you're cool Caleb." Connor rolled his eyes and continued to eat. "How could you not remember Tris. She was something special. So was Lizzie's brother. But Lizzie will outshine them all. Won't you Liz?" Connor smiled at me as I was mid chew of my pancakes. At the time I could only nod.
