Tobias was hiding behind a wall, his arm gripping hers. "I don't know, but stay quiet." He demanded. Stress evident on his face.

"Where's Tris?" I ask him.

"She's went up ahead to see what's going on." He tells her as they watch the rest of the dauntless faction walk in an orderly fashion. The empty looks on their faces was disturbing. It was the exact opposite of the typical dauntless member.

When the last of the faction walked past them. Tobias and I followed them trying our best to act like them. The closer we got to abnegation, the more uneasy I felt in my gut and it wasn't because I was near Marcus. But something sinister was brewing and I couldn't figure out what it was. We entered Abnegation and the long line of dauntless stood at a standstill. Everything was still. Our breathing, our movements and the stillness in the air was unnerving. It was still dark outside it couldn't be earlier than three in the morning; the Abnegation members were still sleeping. Tobias and I share a strange look, I felt my heart drop into my stomach.

Suddenly lights flashed and popping noises were heard. Gun shots. The shots were followed by the sound of windows shattering. Some house's bedroom lights were turning on. I watched in horror as my fellow members were shooting into my old faction's houses. Marcus was a crappy member but they rest were okay. Tobias held his gun out at the people in front of me.

"Get down!" Tobias yelled and I did what he told me to do. I kneeled down as a bullet whizzed over my head. I turned my head to the direction of where the bullet went. It hit the man in the head and I couldn't help but let out a blood curdling scream. Tobias ran over to me and covered my mouth with his hands.

"Be quiet! You'll get us killed. Just stay close to me and watch our backs, I got the front." He lets go of me and starts walking. I followed close behind him holding tightly to the gun I was given. We snuck into dark alley ways and behind buildings to keep us safe. The sound of gunshots and screaming were deafening. My mind was swimming with questions, why is Dauntless attacking Abnegation? Why is everyone acting so frozen and violent. As if someone else was controlling them. Tobias took out a few Dauntless. Bodies littered the main streets. Marcus briefly passed through my brain. Would he be among the dead?

"Tobias!" a female voice yelled and I held up my gun. My brother put his hand out.

"It's Tris, stand down." He opens his arms for her. They share a brief kiss.

"They're just shooting. I can't figure out why. The other members, they look to be controlled by something else. I don't like it but I think we have to hurt our own to protect the innocent." Tris looked between the two of us.

"That doesn't explain why everyone looks so frozen and robotic." He tells her. I tried to think back to earlier in the day and remembered what happened at dinner.

"At dinner tonight," I started, "Connor and I went go eat and the line to get into the cafeteria was extremely long. We had no idea what was going on and why everything was moving so slow. When we got to the entry way. Eric was at the doorway with two guards. We had to give them our apartment number our name and they put a microchip in our arm. They said it would be used in the event that we go missing they can use it to help find us. We didn't think anything of it. We just did it and went on with our night." I look between them. I could see the wheels turning in Tobias' head.

"We went out. So, we didn't get the microchip. We were just getting back when the robots made their way out of the compound." Tris added in.

"And I'm divergent. The chip didn't work on me." I added in.

"This was planned." Tobias determined, "This was a planned attack on Abnegation." Tobias' face went cold and emotionless. He suddenly drew up his gun "Behind you!" He yelled.
