A month or two went by but I couldn't tell. Max was out of dauntless and faction-less but he still visited my dreams at night. My screams filled the apartments every night. Tobias and Connor have both taken up sleeping on the floor in my room so they can be there when the nightmares kick in. I couldn't be more grateful for them. They were always there at all hours of the night, sometimes not sleeping at all before they went into work. With Max gone, Dauntless needed another leader and Eric offered the job to Tobias, which he is currently making the transition to. I have been offered Tobias' old job in security which I will be taking on in the coming days, as long as I can keep myself together.

Connor met me at my apartment for the night. Tobias and Tris were going off the compound, He was going to ask her to marry him. Which was exciting. In abnegation, you just signed a paper at the government building. I don't know how it works in dauntless, maybe its something slightly more extravagant. Connor let himself into the apartment and found me in my room reading a book. He knocked on my open door to tell me he was there and took a seat on my bed.

"Hey 'Liza." he smiles softly at me. using one of the nicknames he got from Tobias.

"Hey." I set my book down and smile at him as he leans over and kisses my cheek.

"Ready to go get dinner? I was thinking we can go to the shopping area afterwards to go see Olivia. she'll be getting off of work by the time we get there.

"Sounds good to me!" I get up and take his hand and we went to the cafeteria.

As we approached the cafeteria we were met with an extremely long line. There was never a line to get in. We exchanged looks and Connor tapped the person in front of us on the shoulder.

"Do you know whats going on?" he asked the older man. the man shook his head and shrugged.

"I have no idea. But they need to hurry up, I was at work all day today and haven't had anything to eat since I left this morning." the man tells us before looking ahead of him again. We exchange another look and shrug ourselves, hopefully we'll find out soon. We stood in line and talked about work, and wondered how Tobias' evening was with Tris, had he proposed to her yet. If he was waiting until later tonight. The line did eventually start moving little by little.

"Do you think I should stay home tonight or would it be better if i went to your apartment tonight?" I ask Connor quietly. When Tobias and Tris come home and she accepted, It may not be a good idea to stay at home if they still want to celebrate when they get back. But I have not been to Connor's apartment yet. I've been afraid too. He holds my hand and cuddles with me on the couch and kisses my lips, I've been too afraid to take our relationship farther than that. I blame Max for that, even when he's not here, I'm still afraid of him. I glance up at Connor. I watched his blue eyes widen and consider the pros and cons.  His eyes met mine as he opened his mouth to speak.

"I don't live alone, I live with my parents and my little sisters still. But I don't have a problem with you coming over. My parents are dying to meet you anyway." He says. I forgot that he still had a family, a fact I kept overlooking when I got to know him. I forgot he was the oldest in his family, he had two younger sisters, 13 and 10. I always forget that not everyone had a dead mother and an abusive father.

"That's okay. I think it's probably about time I meet your family. We are going to be in each others lives for a while." I tell him with a smile. He chuckles and wraps a hand around me.

"Just a while?" He kisses my cheek as we walk forward a little while, "How about forever." He smiles and I feel my face get hot.

"So it's settled. After we leave Liv, go back to my apartment and grab some things and then go to yours."
