Convergent

Chapter 5

"Ready to jump?" My brother asks me.

"Yep!" I smile briefly and I follow him so we can jump off the train.

"On 3." He says and grabs my hand to make sure I don't fall.

"1.....2...3!" We jump off the train. I let go of his hand and landed on my knees. I need to learn not to do that.

"I'll see you in a few minutes." He walks away and jumps down a hole.

I look around to find where Connor and Olivia are, Olivia on the ground with Connor's hand held out for her. I walk over to them

"Are you ok?" I ask Olivia

"Never better." She smiles and stands with Connor's help. He takes her hand and my arm and walks us to where a group of initiates stand.

"My name is Ashley. I'll be the instructor for the dauntless-born initiates. But as for right now, I'll show you how to get into the compound. Then you'll meet Four, the faction transfer instructor." She walks back and forth looking at us likes cows ready for slaughter.

"And Elizabeth's brother. You already know she's in." A boy in black and white whispers to a girl in the same color." I guess I'm more famous then I thought

"Lay off Jacob. She could probably kick more ass then you. She is his sister." A boy in red tells him. Why is an Amity sticking up for me?

"I don't need anyone to stick up for me. We'll see what happens come initiation. May the best person win" I smile at the boy Jacob. Then I look at the boy in red "Thanks though." I could hear Olivia and Connor snicker as a jab him in the stomach with my elbow.

"No talking!" Ashley glares at us. She shows us the hole we need to jump down to reach the compound.

"Whose first? Jacob? Since you seem so confident." Ashley calls him out. He does nothing but look at his shoes

I roll my eyes and break away from Connor and Olivia, moving toward the wall to get a running start to jump into the hole. I take off my cardigan so I'm just in my blouse and jeans. I received a few whistles as I throw my cardigan off towards Jacob. I smirk at him before jumping off the building into the hole.

I hit a net hard.

"Oof!" I groan as I feel a strong arm help me.

"Careful Lizzie," Tobias looks down at me as he sets me down, "and welcome
to dauntless." He smiles at me.

"It's about time." I say and hug him again before moving away so the rest can jump.

"First jumper I see? You're like Tris. Hmm..." He says and trails off.

"Is that a good thing?" I ask.

"Depends on whose your competition." He shrugs and helps the others one by one.

"Oh my gosh! Lizzie!" Olivia comes running towards me.

"You've should of seen the faces of the others! They were all shocked that an abnegation would go first. Girl, you are
amazing!" She hugs me and moved out of the way as the last of the initiates jump.

Well, this is going swell, I thought to myself.
