chapter 030 ━━━━ perfection
THE SUMMER SUN FILTERED through the leaves of the old oak tree, casting dappled shadows on the grassy clearing. you and Kurona sat on the weathered bench beneath the tree, a place that had been your secret meeting spot for years.the air was thick with the scent of blooming flowers, and the sounds of distant laughter from children playing in the nearby park filled the air. it should have been a perfect day, but an unsettling tension lingered between you two.
you took a deep breath, steeling yourself for the words you were about to say. "Kuro, we need to stop seeing each other," you confessed. you kept your poker face, refusing to let any emotion slip through.
"i think we're better off without each other."
his face fell, the hurt in his eyes was unmistakable. he dropped the bouquet, the flowers scattering across the ground. "what are you talking about?" he stammered, desperation creeping into his voice.
"why? did i do something wrong?"
you forced yourself to hold his gaze, even though it pained you to see him like this. "it's not about you," you replied coldly.
"i just don't think this is working anymore and we're too young for this. i have other things to focus on, and so do you. it's time to move on."
tears welled up in Kurona's eyes, but he quickly wiped them away with the back of his hand. he shook his head, refusing to accept your words. "no, i don't believe you," he said, his voice cracking.
"we've always been there for each other. please, don't do this. i...i love—"
"i've made up my mind," you cut him off, your tone final.
for a brief moment, your resolve wavered. the memories of your time together flashed before your eyes: the laughter, the shared secrets, the way he made you feel understood and accepted.
