"so you called me mate, what was that all about?" Oon asked
"surely you're old enough to know what a mate is?" Ngusoi said.
"yes but with other wolves" Oon replied.
"for fear of repeating myself, I am a wolf, it's just that I lean more to my human side and yes, you are my mate, I could tell as soon as I inhaled your scent, that was how I knew you were in my cave" Ngusoi said.
"so why can't I smell you then?" Oon asked him.
"maybe because I'm more human" Ngusoi shrugged.
"for all I know you could be lying just to ..."
"you think I'm so desperate for sex that I have to lie to get it" Ngusoi roared angrily.
"er ... weren't you telling me that we had to be quiet?" Oon said.
Oon looked at the man sitting on a rock opposite, he was almost a head taller than him and he had bottle blonde wavy hair with a floppy fringe which hung over his chocolate brown eyes. His perpetual scowl made him look intimidating but his shapely lips softened his appearance somewhat.
"so ... what do you do to keep yourself entertained when you're here alone?" Oon asked him.
"my wolf is usually outside, I'm a lot more familiar with the area than you" Ngusoi said.
"so there's no reason why you couldn't help me back to my hotel" Oon said.
"it's too far in human form with your injury, how did you get here earlier on?" the beast man asked.
"I got a taxi, maybe I should have hired a car?"
"you would have had difficulty driving back" Ngusoi said.
"you're just full of optimism aren't you?" Oon said sarcastically.
"I'm just being honest dear mate"
"don't call me that!"
"deny it all you want but you'll see"
"are there any other wild animals in these caves that I should know about?" Oon asked.
"just a few bats when I turn the lamp off, sometimes something bigger finds it's way in so I just shift into my wolf and they soon change their mind and leave" Ngusoi shrugged.
"what do you do for a living ... out there" Oon asked him.
"I own several coffee plantations and we export millions of coffee products worldwide including coffee cherry supplements and a variety of cascara teas" Ngusoi replied.
"so you're like an entrepreneur or something?" Oon said.
"or something yes" Ngusoi replied before continuing ...
"so what were you doing wandering around the caves alone, are you on vacation?"
"my boss is coming over here in a few days time, he's a geologist and needs to take a few rock samples and I needed to make sure he wouldn't be held up with red tape, you know how the authorities can be, as far as looking around the caves, I guess it was stupid and reckless of me" Oon admitted.
"well, as long as you know ... you have to remember, I was born around here and these caves were mine and my mother's playground, every tunnel, every cavern large and small holds a precious memory" Ngusoi said with a faraway look in his eyes.
"that's nice, so did you guys spend time in here then?" Oon asked.
"yes, it was my mum who found the hiding place for the first aid supplies, the last thing we needed were cavers or explorers wandering in here when we were in the city and discovering that people have been camping out in here ... we didn't want to make the place look too comfortable or they would come back"
