Maybe, just maybe, you made a mistake inviting Maha.

On the other hand, it made Alastor actually get to work and prepare dinner, so at least you were free, apart from having to answer his weird questions. Of course he asked you about her, and at first you answered, but the longer it went on, the more you started to suspect there was a catch. So you finally said that if he wanted to know so much, he should ask her herself. You almost hit your forehead with that, a moment later when you realized that you had just given him a reason to talk to her and you could only pray that Maha wouldn't fall into his game.  She was a smart girl and you didn't think she would give in, but at the same time you weren't sure if she wanted to make a good first impression.

So you worried, staring at your phone and waiting for who knows what.

It wasn't until about half an hour later that you heard a knock on the door and you jumped up to open it, but the deer was faster. You hissed because you hit the corner of the table while getting up, which slowed you down even more, giving him time to open the door. Furious, you followed him, trying to push through to greet the girl, but unfortunately you were hampered by your husband. You even tried to use your role model to your advantage, but unfortunately he saw right through you without even turning to face you. He positioned his arm so that it was level with your chest, so you had to really bend down to get under it. Unfortunately, while you were in the middle of it, he moved his entire body this way, blocking your passage and view.

“I assume you are a dear friend, niece, of my lovely wife, aren't you?” Alastor spoke eagerly, clearly playing the wonderful husband, and you huffed, slapping your hand on his back to get him to move.

“A little bit like that, but not much, we're not biologically a family.” Maha replied and you could hear the consternation in her voice, “I think she wants you to move, sir.”

“Hm? Oh, forgive me, darling!” he pretended that he had just noticed you and moved aside to make room for you, and you stood face to face with Maha, “You're so small I just didn't notice you! Oh, how ungentlemanly of me!”

Oh yes, he was always so nice to you! How could you not notice?

“Honey, nice to see you! I'm really going crazy here!” you called out, ignoring him completely and stretching your arms out to hug the girl. “You have no idea how boring it is here!”

“Boring? Love, aren't you going a little too far?” the deer chuckled behind you and you frowned, “We get along great, darling.”

You gritted your teeth, knowing that your patience is gonna be tested today. You almost pushed the girl inside, sending Alastor a furious glare.

“Do you have to constantly invite yourself into every aspect of my life?” you asked, hissing softly so Maha wouldn't hear

“Well, that's how marriage works, my dear.” he replied with a broad smile, smug as ever. A mocking sweetness flowed from his words, teasing you, “We should share everything, right?”

You saw that it was an obvious invitation to an argument, but you weren't about to explode in front of your niece. So you took a deep breath and walked towards where the raccoon girl was now.

“My dearly beloved niece of my sweet wife!” he called out as he followed you and Maha raised her eyebrows at him doubtfully, “How could I not invite such a wonderful person to my home! I just had to meet you from the first time I heard about you!” he spread his arms as he walked towards her and your eye twitched

“Oh, yeah.” Maha replied, glaring at him, “You're the bastard she's always complaining about. Look, dude, I'm here for my auntie, not for your niceties, you know?”
