"Annika, this is your life. If you don't live it now, how will you survive in NYU? This is Frank Ocean. You must come! Angithafhi cha ngempendulo."{I'm not taking no for an answer.}
"Fuck it! Let's go!"

12:30 AM"Never miss a party...good for the nerves-like celery." — F. Scott Fitzgerald
We make our way down the steps, meeting my mother by the sofa, with a smile. "Nibukeka nibahle nobabili." {You both look gorgeous.}
"Thank you, Mama."
"Ngiyabonga!" {Thank you!}, Danai says, with a smile. "Kufanele siqhubeke. Sizobonana maduze."{We must get going. See you soon!}
"Bye! Stay safe!", my mother waves goodbye. "Have fun!"
We clear the way through the crowded streets of LA until we reach the Union train station. "We made it!", Danai says, with a smile of excitement. "I'm so excited, Danai!"
"This will be amazing, friend!", Danai squeals, squeezing my hand. The Union train arrives, as people crowd around the entrance. My eyes widen, rushing me to an open seat. I reach for my headphones and my book. "Daughter in Exile a novel by Bisi Adaptation author of The Teller of Secrets."
The Union train travels underground, and my eyes alter to Danai, three seats away from me. She lays her head on the window, gradually sealing her eyes. My music starts, and my gaze pins down my book.
