TRIAL {8:00 — 9:00 AM}
6:45 AM (Preparing For Trial)"Lawyers don't speak, they state."
Thoughts will be italicized!
My eyes await the train, as a loud honk tolls, and the tracks rustle, my feet glide into the 2 train, and I quickly put on my headphones, before the wifi escapes. Perhaps, I am more used to New York than I presumed.
Next Stop: Wall St
"Good Morning, Ms. Jelani, I see you have work today.", the blonde-haired secretary chimes in, as I greet her with a bright smile. "The best way to start my day, opening a bunch of case files. Can you please bring a glass of water to my office? Thank you.", the books push into my right hand, and the door manages to open my left-hand turns the key. "Mr. Tai—", but before she could finish her sentence, my eyes complete it. They find Damson sitting at my desk, leaning in his chair, as a pile of papers surrounds him. So much for being alone.
"What are you doing here?", my mouth inquires, as my gaze hardens on his white blouse, and his black square glasses, which he lifts upwards, squinting to complete my gaze. Is he reading? Case files—of course, without me. To be fair, that wasn't precisely what angered me, considering my plan was to do the exact same. "Working on the case—", his eyes gaze at the books in my hand, allowing a sly smirk to spread across his lips, as he turns his gaze back into his files. "Can't exactly be mad at me when you were planning to do the same, Arewa."
I roll my eyes, obtaining a seat in the black chair beside him. "It wouldn't hurt to do it together.", Damson chuckles, gazing into me, causing me to look at him. "Great minds think alike.", I couldn't help but be delighted by the idea. My eyes analyze his face, attempting to notice what's different, my head falls to my lap, and a chuckle departs from my lips. "I prefer you with glasses."
NOT TOO MUCH ON THE GLASSES, I'M NOT A PROFESSIONAL EDITOR 😭
Damson cocked his head back in a playful manner. "Perhaps I'll wear them more often. Not everyone is blessed with perfect vision."
