Hidden consequences.
Fighting in your enemies home land will leave them with an advantage no matter how good you are
Decisions..
Few decisions were needed but Ehmet had to decide how to respond to Terrills traps both of which had their grim results. Hold and let Terrill attack again, counter attack on all fronts or just one or two.
Read on to see what they have decided.
The stench was sickening and the screams of horror from the soilders caught in the flames were horrendous. An assault on Ehmets senses that he struggled to block out however there he stood at the centre of his army most of which had crossed the dry canal.
They had a wall of flame to their front and then riders had come from north and south, another one of Terrills traps, and for a moment the army had almost broken as those facing the suprise attack had broken and run for the safety of the far side of the canal. Ehmets army was surrounded suffered grosum casualties and it seemed they would be slaughtered while in disarray by arrows and lancers on two sides and consumed by fire on the third.
The hellish end had only been moments away, the largest army of Drathan killed and roasted to the last, but the wind had blown due south and then eased, perhaps the gods had taken pity or had for a instant supported their most loyal and fanatic soilders The Awoken Sun whs  mounted knights had gathered and ridden knee to knee along one front, their armoured might driving back Terrills lancers and archers for long enough to stop the complete rout and allowing Ehmets Bronze Shields, left unmolested by the fire to turn its entire strength to stand against the horse archers coming from the south.
Ehmet has shown supreme command, riding with his commanders around his force giving and confirming orders. He radiated discipline and all down the command chain soilders, companies and regiments were pushed, shoved and if needed beaten back in to a formation. The continuous roar of 'hold' was heard all about as Ehmet dismounted and spoke quickly with those close at hand. One of those was Flux his most experienced and trusted scout.
Flux limped over to her lord and received a single question from them "how?!"
Flux crouched down and in her unique single word language and supporting pictures in the earth she gave her reply. Everyone watched them because all in Ehmets army had taken comfort during the long campaign in knowing that Flux and her company were unmatched yet here they all were surrounded and had only just prevented their entire destruction. The exchange was quick. Flux s story was translated for those who did not understand the strang woman who crouched before them.
In the end the cordon of watchful eyes had not been breached but the parties that rode beyond it had. Those groups went out further in to the surrounding country side, deep in to it to be sure no one could approach the army unnoticed. A group had not returned and Flux sent her own riders out. In that they had waited just a little to long when those prised riders did not return. Why? either because Flux over estimated their ability or under estimated the enemy in their home lands. Even so few if any would have perceived call for any great alarm in those moments because the main cordon of scouts raised no alarm, not until Terrills two separate divisions of his mounted army came at such speed that the distance they had to cover was in the end of no consequence. Terrill had sent them far out to keep them from site and relied on speed alone, it had worked, against an advisory who had not faced them before, nore seen their full capability they could not prepare. So the pincer had closed on Ehmet and he was surrounded. Flux destroyed their drawings in frustration, full of pure rage and anger.
Nicolous Sear the commander at arms of the Awoken Sun pushed forward and spoke with authority while looking south to were the Broze Sheilds held their ground. He stood in the most colossal suite of armer anyone had ever seen and his horse, armoured as well ,stood a few paces back.
"We will break out to the north my lord. It will be horrific work for them but our squires will have to recross the canal and push on to give us enough ground for the knights to cross it, form up and drive them away. I can see no reason why the Grand Duchesses force will not come or send aid. With you permission lord" Nicolous was a bastion of towering support and Ehmet did not hesitate to agree because dispute their discipline they would not last the hour surrounded in this pit of hell.
