"I would do whatever you wanted"

Standing in the courtyard waiting on Flora to make her way down and meet me, I couldn't help but smile to myself. No incessant grumbling or whining from any house. Not even Gryffindor. That's what happens when you have to take matters into your own hands. Hardly my fault Kenneth Towler was begging to be silenced.

So, if he found himself trapped and unable to get out of a broom cupboard, that would be no one's fault but his own.

Seeing how he made Flora feel that day really stuck with me. Each passing day I saw his smug, cursable face it fueled the rage in me. I should be thanking the stars that it was today my fuse snapped. It means he can't pester us on our date, all I want from today is to distract her and have fun with her. I know she's capable and Merlin does she deserve it.

As if on cue she rounds the corner with her friends, making her way over to me. Corduroy bell bottoms I recognised as Ginny's and a dark knit jumper clung to her figure.

Now standing in front of me, I peer down to meet her sage irises. Scents of sweet cherry and spices ebbed from her, clinging to me. Fine by me, she smells great. "You smell nice."

"So do you Weasley, I also like the attire. Very first date appropriate." She gestures to my blue denim and knitted maroon jumper. Proudly sporting a golden 'G' on my chest.

I pull at the soft fabric covering her legs. "Nick this from my sister then?" I joke.

"Yeah." Her face is serious. I pull a face then drag her over to McGonagall to register.

"She let me borrow it. Only grumbling once about how gross it was to be going on a date with you."

"You and Ginny are friends?" I exclaim. Admittedly I'm lost and confused. Since when and how have I not noticed this?

"Eh, yes. Have been since her second year when we were next to each other for the mass sleepover in the hall due to Sirius Black." She gives me one of her sweet smiles.

"Am I really that dense?"

"Seems so."

Rather than fixating on the fact I don't pay attention to my sister or my future girlfriend, I try to change the subject. Or rather, distract and annoy her.

I sneak a hand behind me to pull on a lock of her hair. She whines and turns to glare at me. Holding a gloved hand to the back of her head.

"You're such a child. Being mean to me just cos you fancy me?" I guess she's right.

"Don't worry darling, I'm already too infatuated with you to be cruel." A light blush creeps up her cheeks but I'm quick to catch her out.

"Hey! No blushing remember. This is how part of the progress, me giving you nicknames is normal."

I watch as she visibly tries to breathe through the redness. "I know, you're right. I'm just really not used to any of this."

"Oh you're telling me no one has ever called you a pet name?" Honestly I'd assumed it was common for her and the blushing was more of a quirk. Not an actual reaction due to lack of experience.

"I haven't um, gotten the chance to be," her tone is clipped and clearly uncomfortable.

"Sorry I just assumed because you're so datable. Like you're serious enough but know when to have fun, plus you're smart (a nerd), and can put up with me better than most people, plus you really do smell great." I barely noticed I was rambling but snuck a glance in case it was too much. She looked content. "I guess I'm just tryna say you're a really pretty girl who is perfectly likeable. You know you're really different from Angelina but that isn't to say she's not datable. She is very datable." Even I could sense I spoke too much. I like it too much to stop.
