"I'm always wondering."
(Their apartment/house layout)
"How did you deal with it?" Maddie asked me as she waited for me to finish the pancakes. Her electric blue eyes shined with curiosity when I looked up at her.
"Deal with what, Little Storm?" I asked her when I looked back down to flip a pancake. Patting it softly.
"How did you deal with high school?" She groaned out, still trying to figure out her last question on her homework sheet. A white fluff ball sitting next on the stool next to her. "Was it this hard for you?" She whined out when her glasses slid down her nose and she had to push them back up.
"Darling," I said to get her attention. Chuckling a little I slid a hot pancake onto her plate. "I didn't skip grades like you did. Now eat up or we are going to be late."
"Uugh, at least I get to eat these delicious pancakes before going." She smiled and shoved a bite of buttered pancakes into her mouth. Shadow came walking up to me once I was finished with the pancakes. Maddie's backpack drags along as she tries carrying the large bag.
"Thank you." I mumbled as I grabbed the now-finished homework off the island and put it in Maddie's bag. Petting the fluffy white kitten as I passed. "Now come on both of you, or we will be late." "Hold up, let me rinse this quickly." She says as she gets up, scaring the kitten with how fast she got up. "Sorry snowball." Shadow trails close behind me, grabbing her leash from the floor.
"Shadow," I laughed softly as I went to open the front door. Her fluffy black tail wagged happily, as she bounded toward the dark purple, jeep wrangler. "Maddie let's go, Shadows already at the jeep."
"I'm coming. I'm coming." She yelled as she raced to get her shoes on and bounded out the door. Closing it quickly behind her, and scurrying over to the jeep as Shadow hops in. Snowball jumps onto her cat tree to watch us leave through the window.
Shutting the door, I look in my rearview mirror, doing a small double take when I see the same red and blue semi parked across the street. "That's the third time this week." I mumbled to myself.
"What was that?" Maddie asked once she was buckled in her seat, looking up at me with those curious blue eyes of hers through the rear-view mirror.
"Nothing Little Storm. Let's just get you to school." I quickly said, while starting the jeep and setting off.
A little while later the semi sets off as well. Following.
***Time skip***
"Alright, Little Storm. Good luck at school." I smiled softly at her when I parked the jeep at the curb. "And remember- "
