Winter 2023 - March
"I've never even met any of these guys but Nico. How do I even introduce myself?" Ana asked, looking up at Luke.
"Ana Kate, Jack talks about us all the time to the team. They all know us by name, probably." Ana nodded at him. "Yeah, you're probably right with the way he yaps," she laughed, staying close to Luke.
Ana suddenly turned around, nearly colliding with someone in front of her. She quickly looked up, an apology already on her lips, and stared a familiar young face right in the eyes.
Same eyes as Luke.
Same hair as Luke, but darker.
Fuck, even the same face as Luke.
"Hi, I'm John," he stated, visibly star struck. "Uh– Marino." He stuck his hand out, grabbing Ana's.
"Hi, I'm Ana," she said back to him warmly.
He looked to Ana's right, at Luke. "And you must be baby brother Luke," the handsome man– John, stated with a small smile.
"You are correct. Nice to meet you, Johnny," Luke said, shaking his hand. He turned his eyes back towards Ana. John's gaze began at her eyes, then her lips, to her neck, soon sweeping them down the rest of her body. He took his time drinking her in, consuming her under his stare. Ana shifted uncomfortably, and Luke swallowed hard.
Don't fucking look at her like that, Luke threatened him silently, his eyes shooting daggers in his direction. But all of John's attention was on Ana, not concerned about Luke in the slightest.
"So, Ana, tell me about yourself. Are you at Michigan, too?" John asked her, appearing to be very interested.
Ana nodded at him. "Yeah, I am. I'm a sophomore there, me and Luke are the same age," she gestured towards Luke, stiff next to her. "I'm a pre-med major."
John raised his eyebrows, clearly impressed. "Pre-med, huh? So you must be smart smart, aren't you, darling?" He took a step closer to her.
Ana blushed, caught off guard by the compliment. "Uh– thanks. I don't know what specialty I want to go into yet, I'm still undecided," she answered.
"Hey, you've still got some time, darling. You can't rush the good things in life," John said, shooting her a wink. "I have a feeling you're the life of the party, yeah?" he smirked.
He is so flirting with me. Right in front of Luke.
Ana huffed nervously. "I mean, I–"
"She would be incredible in sports medicine," Luke blurted out, cutting off Ana. Ana looked at Luke, as did John.
"Sports medicine, huh? Sounds like you could get yourself a job here with the Devils, with the connection you got here," John stated, pointing at Jack behind them.
Yeah, just so you could have her on lock to get in her pants, you dick, Luke thought.
"That would be really cool," Ana said, agreeing. "But I want to get a job on my own merit, though. I would appreciate Jack's help, but I wouldn't want him to be the only reason I got hired. You know?"
John nodded, considering her words. "A driven girl. I respect that. I like a girl that's willing to work for what she wants," he said. "I think I like you, Ana." His brown eyes sparkled as his gaze lingered on her bare skin.
And I think you need to stop undressing my girl with your eyes, Luke said to himself, willing himself not to start fuming.
"And not to mention, you're hot, so," he admitted innocently, shrugging his shoulders.
