Summer 2022 - July

"Lukey, this is a bad idea," Ana said, breathless as she stared the handsome brunette dead in the face, equally as winded.

Luke gazed right back at her, with very little space between them on the couch, alone in the basement. His eyes were full of nothing but hunger and want for her. A smirk pulled at his swollen lips as he looked away for a moment.

Ana's heart was still pounding as she became aware of Luke's hand, still up her shirt, his other hand lingering on her thigh. She didn't make an effort to move, however.

"So..." Luke started, scanning the room around them, "Is this in general a bad idea, or is this specific location a bad idea?"

"No, no, I like this– I mean, I love this, but I'm not gonna lie, I feel a little weird out here in the open like this. You know?"

"No," he said flatly.

"Great," Ana sighed.

"If your body on me is involved in any capacity, Ana Kate, I don't give a fuck when or where, I'm there," he assured her, squeezing her thigh.

"I think I'm just a little nervous that someone may walk in on us down there," Ana said, leaning back onto the couch.

"Ana Kate, I have two brothers that don't know boundaries. They are just as likely to walk in on us in my room, too," Luke replied, shaking his head.

"I know," Ana bit her bottom lip.

Luke shifted his body to face her completely. "Would you feel more comfortable in my room? We can do whatever you want," he said softly.

Butterflies fluttered in Ana's stomach at his words. God, what did I do to deserve him?

"Um, I think that would make me feel better, actually," Ana answered.

Luke nodded. "Okay, then let's do that," he held his hand out to her. "Here, come on."

Ana smiled as she took his hand, pulling her up from the couch. She slid on Luke's Michigan Hockey sweatshirt, baggy and oversized on her small frame.

"Where are the boys at, anyway? I know Jentry is at home with her mom today," Ana said, walking up the stairs in front of Luke.

"I want to say they went out on the golf course this morning, so there's no telling when they will be back. Emma went with them," Luke replied.

"Okay, well that ensures us a least a couple hours of time by ourselves," Ana said, doing the math in her head as to when everyone would be back home.

Luke nodded, a small smile on his lips. "You don't have to worry about them, Ana Kate. You're with me and there's no one else to bother us." He walked into the kitchen to grab a couple of water bottles for the two of them.

"Yeah, until Quinn comes stomping in here in about half an hour, pissed that Jack beat him again," she raised her eyebrows at Luke.

"Don't psych yourself out," Luke attempted to assure her, pushing a stray hair out of her face. "Whatever you want, remember?"

Butterflies again. Ana nodded silently.

Luke stepped into his bedroom, Ana right behind him. He kicked a few clothes out of the way that were littering the floor, sitting the water bottles down on his nightstand.

Ana felt a surge of warmth throughout her body as the dark gray walls of Luke's bedroom enveloped her into something that of a safe space. She climbed onto his bed, the navy blue comforter matching perfectly with the sweatshirt she was wearing.
