You were walking through the sleeping hunter's camp, searching for a glimpse of your missing boyfriend. Though he tended to go to bed late and wake up earlier, he never disappeared without telling you what he was planning. So, on you wandered at 3 a.m., trying to locate him with nothing but a few lanterns to guide your way along the dusty path. It wasn't until you got to the dock that you noticed a black shape outlined on the sandy beach. Padding over, you came up behind the man, ready to tell him off for vanishing into thin air, only to find him with his head on his knees, arms wrapped around his legs as he sat hunched over in a deep sleep.

The poor man had been over-working himself for months trying to defeat the Dragon Riders and failing to keep less than ten of every forty dragons he captured. You could see both sides reasoning clearly enough: Young kids fighting for the freedom of the entire dragon race, and a man who had a business, tribe, and family to look after. The kids were right in some respects, no animal deserved to be locked in a cage or brutally slaughtered, but the dragon hunters had a reason for it all. They depended on this trade for food, supplies, and many other things to keep themselves and their people alive.

It made the war between them difficult to resolve because both had beliefs and morals that differed. You had a soft spot for the Berkian kids who were so far from home fighting this seemingly endless war, but your loyalty would stay with your love and his tribe. It hurt your heart to watch this keep going on, but what could you do? This wasn't your war. You were just kind of in the middle ground trying to stop it all from crashing down.

You sat down beside your tired love and gently pulled him over to lean his head on your shoulder. He stirred slightly, moving to get comfortable in your arms as he wrapped his own around you. You hugged him tightly and kissed the crown of his head before returning your gaze back to the horizon. It was a warm night that required no fire or cloak, the sky dark blues and purples above you, and in it were the dim, grayed clouds and bright white-yellow stars of the heavens beyond.

Your tribe had an old-time belief that the brightest stars were the kingdoms of the ancient Norse gods. 'Asgard is the biggest and brightest of all,' your father had told you, 'And that is where the Aesir live in all their power and golden light.' You stared at it now, wondering if they could see you. It was such a peaceful, clear night that maybe they were watching. But suddenly Viggo moved his head and turned to look at you with sleepy eyes.

"What are you doing here, my dear?" "Better question is what are you doing here? Especially this late." "I didn't realize." he mumbled tucking his head back under your chin, "I suppose I just dozed off." "I noticed, love." you laughed quietly. He sat up and kissed your cheek, smiling at the way you blushed. "You still need to rest, love." You whispered. He just turned to face the skyline. "But it is so lovely out here." "Maybe so, but you need some sleep." He didn't respond and kept watching the stars as you glanced at him. "Do you think..." he started. "Think what?" you prodded. "Do you think we are doing the right thing?" Viggo had always been fascinated with dragons, it was the business he was in charge of and the expectations of a leader that held him back. "Maybe, maybe not." "That is a rather vague answer." "Yeah." "Well, what do you think?" He relied on your opinion, and sometimes even Ryker's, when he was tired enough.

"Well, have you tried a truce?" "The last time I tried, we ended up fighting for a lava-eating dragon." he informed you with a mild smirk. "No, I mean a real truce, not a double-crossing scheme." "Scheme?" he put his right hand on his chest with a playfully mocking shock. "I am offended that that is how you see me." "No just some of your 'schemes'." you finger quoted. He laughed and wrapped his arms back around you. "I love you, my darling." He murmured sleepily. "I love you too. But let's get back to the camp before dawn." "A few more minutes under the stars with you, my dear?" he pleaded.

You acquiesced with a soft smile.
