The man dubbed Von Hea sighed. "Really, I know it's a lot to take in, but is that really your only reaction?"
"What?" Nora repeated, still not quite comprehending the large revelation that the man had just unloaded on her.
"Oh dear, this is going to take a while."
"O-okay. Go over that again. I'm the power whatsit of where? And how the heck," Nora gestured to the light floating over her palm, "am I doing this?"
"I so tire of fools" Von Hea sighed again. "Once more, slowly, so your little brain can understand. You are the bearer of the life force, or power of this land, Satera. That necklace" he gestured to the crystal necklace somehow around her neck, " is the key to your 'awakening' from your mortal form so you can rise to protect this land for eternity. "
"Okay.... so, if I'm so magical, go come I couldn't use this so called 'power' back home?"
"Well, that would be because it's the power of Satera, not Earth, you pathetic moron!" he yelled the last bit.
That seemed a little unfair to Nora. She had no idea where she was, and had just found out she was this powerful magician lady from another world. In any case, she wished she was somewhere else.
With a slight pop and a wisp of white shimmery magic Lady Anora the Enchantress was gone.
"Dammit!" Von Hea swore, afraid he had lost his chance at getting the most powerful being in the land on his side.
He would have to mend that bond if he wished to win this war.Nora popped up in the frozen woodland from her dream. It's even more beautiful in real life she thought. The dream did not do it justice. The stillness and silence were haunting, and the huge full moon shone light down on the snow, illuminating a hollowed tree. This became even more important when she realized that she was freezing.
It turned out, all she was wearing was a woolen maroon dress, going down to her ankles. It was warm, but not enough to stave off the cold of the woods.
Shivering, Nora crawled into the hollow black trunk, and huddled down, trying to keep warm. Suddenly, a realization came to her that she had just teleported. Holy crap. I just did that. I freaking teleported. Tentatively, she streached out her hand, and thought Light.
A ball of white light, identical to the one before danced over her palm. She gently tossed her hand up, and the ball of light rose into the air and hovered about a foot over her head, near the ceiling of the tree.
Wow, she thought. Then she got cold again. I wonder.... She spread her hands. Fire, she thought.
A warm rosy heat grew in her palms as the strangly white flames danced in her hands. "Whoa" she said aloud.
After a good deal of manipulating the fire in her hands, Nora finally managed to set the fire down on the hard dirt in her little tree. Well, she thought, I'll be fine for the night I think.
And with that, she closed her eyes and fell asleep to the warm crackle of her fire.
When Nora woke, it was still dark.
The reason she woke up was knocking on the tree above her head. Then she realized that it had snowed, and she was completely sealed in. Granted only by snow, but it was slightly disconcerting at first. The knocking sounded again."Lady Anora, I wish to, ah, apologies for my behavior last night, it was slightly unfair to you. Ahem, would you please come out?" came the rather grudging apology from Von Hea.
Sighing, as she couldn't stay in there forever, Nora dug up through the snow, and popped back into the cold moonlight.
"What? I wasn't sleeping for that long, was I?" she inquired, seeing it was still dark out.
"Ah, no. It is dark all the time in the Winter Woods. Won't you come back to the castle to warm yourself?"
Feeling the chill already creeping back into her limbs, Nora agreed, hopping onto the great white horse of the King.
"Now, I am going to explain the basics of Satera. There are two relms, each is half of the whole land of Satera. There is the Winter Woods, a constently dark and snowy place, also known as the Dark Relm. It is full of unique flora and fauna, including the trees you see before you, that get their energy from moonlight." Von Hea said, gesturing to the black and silver trees.
"Now, the other relm, I do not know much about, as it is on the other side of the Wall, that divides the two relms. It is almost impossible to get over or around. The other relm is known here as the Light Land." Von Hea said with no small amount of disgust.
"Anyway, a great war has been prophesied for centuries, and you are said to be the deciding factor on who wins, light or dark. Any questions?"
"Uh, no?" Nora said, still trying to process the large amount of information. Then she remembered something.
"Wait! What about my parents? Do they know where I am, or who I am? I bet they're worried sick!"
"Oh, no. You see that's part of the magic of that necklace of yours. It automatically modified your world to forget you entirely. It's like you never existed." he said it in a way like it was supposed to be good news.
"Oh" was all she could say. Suprisingly, Nora wasn't that upset about her parents.
"Ah, we're here. Welcome to the Black Castle." Von Hea said proudly. "Welcome to the Dark Side."
