“Maybe you two should talk things out.”
Reluctantly, Tia and Agastya moved to a quieter corner of the venue. The noise of the party faded as they settled into a more private space. Tia looked at Agastya, her expression a mix of nostalgia and unease.
“It’s been a long time,” Tia began, her voice steady. “Mujhe lga nhi tha ki tu yha aayega.”
Agastya’s face reflected regret. “I know. Mujhe phle hi maafi maang leni chahiye thi. I’m really sorry for how things ended between us.”
Tia took a deep breath, trying to steady her emotions. “I appreciate your apology. It was a difficult time. I was focused on my future, and it wasn’t easy for me either. But I’ve moved on since then.”
Agastya’s eyes were earnest. “I understand. I didn’t handle things well. I was hurt and angry, and I cut you off without giving it a second thought. I’ve regretted that decision ever since.”
Tia’s expression softened. “I get it. Rejection is never easy. But that night was also a turning point for me. I got the scholarship to the modeling school, and it was a huge opportunity. I had to focus on my dreams.”
*Flashback*
Years earlier, Tia and Agastya had been inseparable childhood friends. On the last day of school, Agastya had gathered his courage to confess his feelings to Tia, hoping for a future together. He had imagined a life where they could be more than friends. But Tia, though she valued their friendship deeply, did not share the same romantic feelings. She wanted to remain friends, which left Agastya heartbroken and angry. In his frustration, he severed all contact with her.
That very night, Tia received the news of her acceptance into a prestigious modeling school in the US. She was thrilled, but the news also meant she would have to leave within two days. Agastya, realizing his mistake and wanting to apologize, was unable to reach her before she left for her new life. Tia’s departure marked the end of their close friendship, leaving Agastya with lingering regret.
*Flashback End*
“I’m glad you got that opportunity,” Agastya said sincerely. “I always admired your determination. I just wish I had been mature enough to handle things differently. I wanted to apologize and make amends, but I never knew how.”
Tia smiled slightly, her demeanor relaxing. “It’s okay. We were young, and things were complicated. I’m glad we had this chance to clear the air. I hope we can put the past behind us and move forward.”
Agastya nodded, visibly relieved. “I’m glad too. It feels good to finally talk things out. Let’s focus on the present and make the most of it.”
The conversation was interrupted by a distant burst of laughter, reminding them of the lively party atmosphere. Agastya glanced at Tia, his eyes reflecting both apology and hope. “I’m really glad we could talk. It’s been a long time coming.”
Tia looked around at the party’s energy, then back at Agastya. “Me too. It’s good to know that there are no hard feelings. I’ve been busy with my career, and I’m sure you have been too. Maybe this is the closure we needed.”
Agastya’s face brightened. “Exactly. And who knows, maybe we’ll run into each other more often now. It would be nice to catch up and see where life has taken us.”
Tia chuckled softly. “That sounds good. I’d like that.”
As they walked back towards the party, Agastya glanced at Tia with a warm smile. “So, how’s the modeling world treating you?”
“Busy, but good,” Tia replied with a smile. “It’s been a whirlwind of fashion shows and photo shoots. But I love it.”
“That’s great to hear,” Agastya said. “I always knew you had a passion for it. And how about you? What have you been up to?”
“I’ve been working on a few projects, staying busy,” Agastya replied. “It’s been quite a journey, but I’m happy with how things are going.”
Tia nodded, clearly relieved that the awkwardness had faded. “It’s nice to hear that. I hope everything continues to go well for you. Mera aashirwad tere saath hai.”
Agastya’s smile widened. “Dhanyawad. Guru Maa.”
As they rejoined Evan and Ritvik, the mood was noticeably lighter. The previous tension between Tia and Agastya had melted away, replaced by a newfound ease. The party continued with renewed energy, the successful book launch adding to the evening’s celebratory atmosphere.
Tia and Agastya exchanged one last reassuring glance before merging back into the lively crowd, each feeling a sense of resolution and optimism for the future.
