As the day wore on and the peaceful silence of her surroundings seeped through her began to relax in a way she hadn't done in years. Not once did the details of a case enter her mind. She never gave any thought to the murderers he had pursued and apprehended during her career. She just took a few deep breaths, slept off, and let herself go. Jace called it a day and head inside to her room.
A smell of cooking filled the air as she up the stairs to her room, and she couldn't help but think about the woman who would be her landlord for the next two weeks. She had to acknowledge with reluctance that, in spite of everything, today had been pleasantly pleasant—a vacation. She couldn't recall a single instance in the previous five or six years when she had taken a vacation from work.
Just as she was ready to leave her room and make her way to the dining area, she got a message from her best friends.
Jace's POV
"Who would have guessed that three idiots—a former alcohol addict, a troublemaker, and a F1 racer, who used to joke about and felt the urge to change the world—would put their feelings at danger for a concept known as love? I don't know anything about that love thing but I'm glad that they already found the happiness and contentment they're looking for."
All thoughts of her best friends left her mind as she entered the dining room to find two men already there. One of them stood near a sideboard pouring himself a cup of coffee from the urn on top, and the other was already at the table.
