Chapter 4 : The Quiet Before

"There were quiet peaceful times, they weren't quiet for long." A woman says in a soft Voice

We listen in the darkness, A faint voice. The voice slowly cuts through, we Watch From Raven's point of view as she opens her eyes, blinking a few times as the world comes into view. Lily's Excited Eyes and face slowly comes into focus.

"Rave!" She says excitedly. "Look!" As she points to the window. We cut to a wider view as Raven sits up and looks outside. the sky is Orange and Clear, as the sun rises, The scene is calming and peaceful. "The Rain Stopped, So we can go outside again!" She adds slightly Hopping on the bed. Raven Rubs her eyes and smiles at Lily.

"Well we could have always went outside, I just didn't want you to catch a cold." She says "especially with... the lack of medicine here." She adds.

"I know, You were just looking out for me, Like you always do!" She says with a bright look in her eyes. "You're The Best.. uh.. Mom.. I could have, in that way." She says in a soft tone. Raven's Smile grows as Lily pulls on her hand. "Come on Rave! You can take me outside, let's go on an Adventure!"

"Lily?" Raven says as she follows her.

"Hmm?" Lily Responds looking up at her.

"Are you hungry?"

"Um, Kinda, but I'm used into it. The food here is kinda Gross." Her eyes slightly look away, Raven catches it.

"Well, let's go Get us a Burger, what do you think?" Raven asks as she kneels to be eye level with Lily.

"Burger?" She mumbles as we hear her stomach Growl. "Um, I guess I am Hungry." She adds with a laugh. "I could Eat three of them!"

"Let's start with one, Then go from there." Raven says as she takes out her smart phone, she opens the maps. As Lily Looks in awe.

"Where'd you get that? Is that a smart phone?" She asks with eyes full of curiosity and questions.

"Uh, Yeah. It was a gift from.. a friend."

"Wow! Is your friend rich?" Lily asks as her eyes meet Raven's eyes.

"I don't know, maybe. She looks about my age though." Raven says as she finds a burger place. "Ah here we go, there's one.... Wow! That's a walk, but I think we can do it." Showing the phone to Lily so she can see. The Phone Vibrates.

"'Aya... If you ever need help..'" Lily begins, Raven turns the phone around sees the last few seconds of the Notification. "Aya? Is that your friend?" Lily asks.

Raven opens the messages. "Uh.. yeah, that's the friend I was talking about." She says as she reads the message. "Thanks Aya.." she whispers to herself. "Well let's go get that burger." She looks at Lily.

"Could I meet her?" Lily asks.

"Uhh, I don't know, maybe. I want to make sure she's.. cool enough to meet you." Raven reasons with a smile. Lily Giggles, as They leave their room and the halls are filled with young kids and teens hanging out or playing around. They seem to blend into the background of the Home, their voices faint and Distant. Lily Stares straight ahead as Raven keeps her Gaze towards the floor. The front desk is empty, and Raven Spots the shine of a key, she walks near the desk and grabs it. Looking at it in her hand. "Master Key... Could come in handy." She mumbles as she puts it in her pocket. They walk outside, The usual cold air hits them. Raven sees Tom as he seems to be painting the outside walls of the home. Their gazes meet and Raven gives him a nod, he nods back with a smile as he returns to his task. They walk down the street, Raven keeps Lily on the opposite side of her so she's in between Lily and the Road. They walk the streets for awhile, passing a few Vagrants and homeless people sleeping under Newspaper, or other garbage. Lily looks at them with a curious look, but Raven keeps her close.
