Cherry sat once again on her window sill. She was looking around, not because she was admiring the view, but because she was searching for a way out from the third floor. That's when she saw someone running over a rooftop just beneath her.
"Of course," she muttered and filled up a bag with her essentials. She knew if she left, mother would be pissed, but she needed to experience the world and she knew that was more important.
Once her essentials were packed in her backpack, she let herself and from the window and fell onto the roof one floor beneath her. The fall wasn't hard and she thanked herself for practicing by jumping off her high sleeper often. She looked around once she stood outside her room and admired the same view she had seen all her life, but now it didn't seem unreachable.
"Goodbye, Mother," Cherry said softly to herself and ran to where she could work her way down to the ground. Demi wandered around with a smile on her face, she was amazed. She got some weird looks, but she shrugged it off as them not recognising her, as if everyone in the world knew each other, or that's what it felt like.
Without really knowing where she was going, she walked into an alley, it was a bit dark. She decided to try and look for a place to stay or hide away her belongings. At the end of that alleyway, she found a way through a tunnel to a place that seemed way different from where she just was. She took a look around, people were fishing and there were people on boats.
It took her a while to find a place that smelled like food, her stomach was telling her to eat so she entered the place. Inside was a girl with blue and black hair serving customers, these people all had the same look, ragged clothes, and some wore hats. By the door stood a sword check.
When she entered most eyes were pointed her way, she did look different from all of them. "Oh, look what we have here," the blue-haired girl said and walked up to her. "Hey, could I get something to eat?" The clueless girl asked, not knowing how ridiculous she sounded to the pirates.
"You want something to eat? From us?" The girl asked and looked around the tent. "Is there something wrong with that?"
"I'm Uma," the blue-haired said when she noticed how clueless Cherry looked. "Nice to meet you, Uma. My name is Cherry," she introduced herself. Uma seemed kind enough, she led her to a table and served her fish and chips.
Cherry was mindlessly eating when a man sat at her table, he was big and muscular. "Hey, you seem lonely. You could use a friend," he said. "You wanna be my friend?" Cherry asked. "Yes, I'm Gil, and you are Cherry. We are friends now," the guy who just introduced himself was an airhead, even Cherry recognised that.
At the other end of the room, Uma and Harry were looking over at Gil and Cherry. "She seems like an itty bitty princess, you think she's here from Auradon?" Harry asked. "Not from around, as much is sure," Uma looked suspicious of the girl and eyed her up and down.
Cherry, on the other hand, had a meaningless conversation with Gil. He was telling her the tale of his father and how his father fell in love with a girl who chose a beast over him. "A man turned into a beast? How is that possible?" Cherry asked. "Magic," Gil answered with his mouth filled with egg. "I thought that was just fairytales. Like the books I have at home."
"Magic is real, you didn't know?" Uma suddenly asked and leaned on the table. Cherry just shook her head, "Mother always told me those were tales to entertain kids," Cherry explained her reasoning for thinking magic didn't exist. Uma let out a small laugh. "Were you just born yesterday?" Another pirate joined, one she didn't know the name of.
"It's complicated," Cherry sighed and looked at her plate. "How complicated can it be?" Uma scoffed and stole a chip. "This is the first time I ever left my room. I snuck out," she said.
"Who is your mother, Mother Gothel?" Uma laughed when she made the joke, but the laugh fell silent when Demi nodded her head. When they released she was being serious she had their full attention.
"Mother Gothel, huh?" Uma said as if she was thinking about something. "How did such an old hag create such a beautiful face," Harry said and held her chin up with his hook. "Harry," Uma said abruptly and he stopped.
Uma walked around the table, "I can't go home or I'll be dead." Cherry said. She was kinda hoping one of them would offer their place. "Well, lass, my room is always available," Harry winked and stole a chip from her plate, as Uma had done before. She could see the food disappearing without even touching it.
"This might be my first time outside my room, but I know what your intentions are and I'm not interested," Cherry replied. "You need a place to stay?" Uma asked but didn't wait for an answer. "I could lend you a place to stay, but you'll have to prove you can fight and you'll have to join my crew."
Cherry didn't think twice about her answer, "Done," she nodded and stood up from her seat.
