He was young during that time, he smiled so wide it could make a thousand people smile along with him. His laugh, so contagious, his parents would laugh along with the boy.
"What do you want to be when you grow up son?" His dad asked looking down at the five year old version of him holding an ice cream as they walk back to the car.
He smiled, "I want to be superman."
"I want to be able to fight bad guys and slay a dragon with a sword and save a princess." He continued to gush about the idea, the dream.
Everyday he would pretend to be a hero, he would wear a towel as a cape and his sword was made out of a box. Maybe the reason he does pretend is because he was a hero.
But he's sixteen now, and he continues to fight bad guys and defeating dragons, the only thing he hasn't done is saved a princess.
One Sunday afternoon he tried a new super power, the ability of flight.
He tried it because he want to get out of this world, he wanted to escape, even just for a while. Or maybe forever.
No more bad guys,
No more swords,
No more dragons
and
No more feeling alone, He thought.
"Sorry.." He whispered to the princess he never got to save, his lips quivered at the memory of her. As he went to a building and stood at the very top edge trying to escape,
And with one jump..
He did.
