Roshi wasn't fully convinced Goku was a saiyan. Maybe Goku was just strong? Roshi looked at Goku, who was looking around clearly in awe.
"Hey kiddo," Roshi called Goku. Goku answers with a hum, "Yeah?"
Roshi chuckles, "You really really think you're worthy to train with me?" Goku nods, "Yes sir! I gotta do some heroic act, and then I'll be able to go back to uhh–Planet Vegetable!"
Roshi rolls his eyes and sings, "So you wanna be a hero kid. Well, whoop-de-doo." Goku frowned, and his shoulders lowered.
"I have been around the block before," Roshi walks into the house, and Goku follows behind. Nimbus decides it's best he stays outside. Goku sees all the pictures of previous trainers. He gulps. It hasn't ended well for all of them.
"With blockheads just like you." Roshi looked up at one of the pictures. Goku went up to it and looked as well. "Each and everyone a disappointment–" Roshi continued to look up, and Goku let curiosity get the best of him and touched the frame, loosening it. "Pain," Roshi groaned in pain as it fell on his head. " for which there ain't no ointment."
He looked upset with Goku, but Goku only shrugged while smiling nervously. "So much for excuses, though a kid of Saiyans' is." Roshi put his fingers in quotes.
"Asking me to jump into the fray," Roshi turned and looked at Goku, "my answer is two words–" "But you said–" Goku was cut off by Roshi getting struck by lightning.
Roshi was stunned, then coughed, "Okay." "So we're actually gonna do this?" Goku asked excitedly, jumping up and down like a child.
Roshi sighed, and walked out of the house shaking his head, "You win.." "Yes! You won't be sorry Master Roshi!" Goku saw Nimbus waiting for a high five and then they gave each other a high five, laughing together. "Oh Gods.." Roshi groaned.
"So when do we start? Today? Tomorrow? Next week?" Goku seemed very excited. "Oy vay.." Roshi slid his hand down his face.
Roshi looked in one of the bushes, and pulled out a large rectangular box, "I'd given up hope that someone would come along." He stopped for a quick break, then continued pushing.
Goku got curious, again, and lifted up the box with ease. All the stuff inside the box fell out and right on Roshi. "A fellow who'd ring the bell for once," Roshi huffed, and placed his hands on his hips, "Not the gong!" A trophy fell on his head.
He took it off, and saw it was dusty and used his beard to wipe it. "The kind who wins trophies," He saw it said 7th place, then he threw it back, "Won't settle for low fees."
Goku was playing with the sword, then he accidently stuck in a tree behind him. He tried to pull it out, but instead pulled out the whole tree. He tripped and fell back.
Roshi didn't notice, "At least semi-pro fees," He sees Goku about to fall on him, "But no, I get the greenhorn!" Roshi gave Goku a scolding glare. Goku didn't notice, and was upset with the fact he broke the sword.
A little later, Roshi made Goku and Nimbus help clean his lawn, so they could make a little training arena. "I've been out to pasture pal, my ambition gone."
Goku had a couple things in his right arm, he saw something small poking out and decided to pick it up. Turns out it was a large arm with the finger pointing up.
"Content to spend lazy days and to graze my lawn." Roshi sings, helping Nimbus cut the grass. They continued to cut grass for the rest of the night.
