Lucy Gray slowly creeps through the hallway and then takes a deep breath when she reaches her and Coriolanus's bedroom door. She knew she had to do this, even if Coriolanus sucked at talking about his emotions. She took one final deep breath and knocked on the wooden door. "..come in.." Coriolanus grumbled his voice muffled slightly from behind the door. Slowly Lucy Gray opened the door and squinted to adjust her eyes to the low light.
Coriolanus was lying down on the bed, his face buried in a pillow and his hair dishevelled and all over the place. He was in a foul mood, he just couldn't get Mauvais out of his head, no matter what he tried. How in the world was he meant to plan a wedding and run a country when he felt like his fiancée was in danger? Coriolanus slowly sat up and turned his unsteady gaze towards Lucy Gray. She was as beautiful as always, but the hint of worry on her face and the way her eyes scanned over his messy appearance only added to his stress. He had thought all of his excuses would work, but his lying game had been off lately....by miles.
Hey Sweetheart.." Coriolanus grumbled, he did want to see her....although not in this state. He really hoped she didn't think it was too horrible. Lucy Gray sighed and slowly made her way from the doorframe to the edge of the bed, when she finally reached it she sat down and turned to look at him again. "Listen Coryo, we need to talk, I'm worried 'bout ya," she said with a small smile, one he could tell she was faking. "Oh? and why are you worried about me exactly," Coriolanus asked, trying his hardest to pretend everything was normal and fine.
Lucy Gray sighed once again and reached out to take his hand in hers. She gently squeezed it and met his gaze, "Don't lie to me, didn't we promise not to do that anymore?" Coriolanus blinked in surprise after that sudden statement and instantly felt guilty....they had promised that to each other, yet here he was holding back some extremely serious and terrifying information, or rather a serious and terrifying threat. He takes a deep breath and tears his gaze away from her and towards the back wall, "We...did, didn't we?" Coriolanus finally mumbles, still making sure not to make eye contact with Lucy Gray, he couldn't stand to see the concern and disappointment in her eyes, not now and never again. Once again it was he who was ruining everything by lying, he had thought he learned and gotten over that. However, it seemed he was more like his father than he had ever thought, always a liar and a manipulator.
"Coriolanus please tell me, I swear I won't judge you," Lucy Gray asked softly, her hand giving his hand a gentle squeeze again before moving it and gently cupping his cheek. Coriolanus finally meets her gaze again and his breath catches in his throat. He would rather do anything but tell her about Mauvais' threat. After all, he didn't want to stress her out more than she already was with the wedding coming up and all. But it was looking like he would have to, and he never wanted to lose her again.
Finally, with one more deep breath, Coriolanus starts to explain himself, "Well....um...you know the other presidential candidate?" Lucy Gray nods and he continues, "Well, he's a bit of an asshole...of course I can handle him but he keeps getting on my nerves and distracted me from my work! So I'm uh....worried that I'm going to get in trouble about my work quality," Coriolanus finished and took another deep breath. He had finally told the truth...well most of the truth. He just couldn't bring himself to mention the threat of getting rid of her. He was truly a horrible Fiance.
Lucy Gray just nods, obviously accepting his half-assed answer. "Alright, I trust you...but please if something is bothering you tell me," she smiled and pulled him into a hug, his chin resting on her shoulder. "I"m here for you Coryo, we're a team right?" Coriolanus nodded and shut his eyes, inhaling the scent of her shampoo, which seemed to instantly calm the storm raging inside of him.
