Fighting Silence

Bright and early on the day of rachel's arrival.

Lucy woke up way before tim. She made coffee, pancakes and waited for him to enter.
Tim: "What are you doing up?"
He looked at his watch. It read 7:00am.

Lucy: "We are picking Rachel up at 7:45 remember!"

Tim: "Oh yeah.. that's today isn't it."

Lucy: "Cmonnnn big day!!"

She was rapidly texting her phone back and forth to rachel until she heard knives and forks clatter.

Lucy: "readyyy?"
She swung the car keys around her finger and grabbed tim into the car.

Tim: "eager much?"

Lucy: "Ugh it's just been so long you know? I feel like i haven't seen her in ages."

After a long drive they finally arrived at the airport.
Lucy ran ahead while tim steadily caught up.

Time was going too slow. Rachel had to be coming out any second. After what seemed like years we saw her plane start to exit.

Lucy: "here she comes!!"

After a while a familiar face popped up RACHH!

Lucy ran over to rachel and hugged her.

Lucy: "Oh my god it's been ages!"

In their hug tim stood with his hands in his pockets as usual. He fought eye contact with rachel but they just wouldn't stop until she gave a small wink.

Rachel: "It's been ages, hasn't it?"

Tim: "How's new york?"

Rachel: "Mm you can find out later."

Lucy suddenly let go of rachel in an awkward manor. She have tim 'the look' in awkwardness.

Lucy: "Let's just get int the car."

As Lucy was about to hop in shotgun rachel nudged her out the way, forcing her to sit in the back. At this point both tim and lucy were freaked out. It had been over 2 years was she crazy? Did she actually think they were still together..?

Finally we parked outside our house and entered. Lucy noticed a weird hand movement from Rachel. It was wandering over to Tim's but he was denying any contact.

Lucy thought it was cute he was loyal. But Rachel was her best friend also she had posted on social media about her and tim so surely Rachel should've seen?

God it was awkward after that. Lucy hardly wanted to make conversation after what she had just witnessed.

Rachel: "So umm.. anything happen while i was away."

Tim: "Yeah, a lot."

Lucy: "you know i'm actually gonna go run some errands."

Tim: "Oh yeah no same sergeant grey wants to see me but i can drop you off at the hotel?"

Rachel: Hotel? I thought i was staying in tim's room. Tim's bed.. Haha.

She let out a weird flirtatious laugh.
