A Dream Within A Nightmare.

Summary: In which while exploring the village you decided to take a little bit of detour with no guides or whatsoever, just only you and Nightmare to explore the village with.

You could only drag your steps through the village along with Nightmare beside you as always, although you envied him considering he wasn't unaffected by the long walking. And here I thought Dream was the most athletic and energetic one. You thought bitterly while hiding your grimace expression to yourself to avoid misunderstanding when others noticed it.

Despite you having a fair probability that it would take a while although mostly you thought it would be quick this wasn't the time exploring you expected it to be. But unbelievable that you were already tired and the worst part is that it wasn't the whole village that have been explored yet.

Plus, how did I even survived walking for some time when I was alone to the village? That made you confuse for a second having noticed it just now. Throughout the other days you walked through the village countless time so you guessed it would be easy when walking again. But this time which is right now? Something is different.

Although you couldn't pinpoint as to what it was unfortunately to your annoyance but you still had time to think about it. Probably... You could make out the expression that Nightmare has on his skull, pure curiosity, considering this was his first time going into the village which your non-existent stomach was filled with guilt.

But you always convince yourself this was for the better, for him, any interactions further with the villagers especially if Nightmare, it would not turn out good in the future.

As much as you wanted to talk further about things to yourself with your own thoughts, it'd probably would be good idea to focus what you were doing since you almost tripped if it weren't for Nightmare holding you in place. Successfully avoiding your fall, plus you silently cursed to whatever you tripped even if it was nothing at all.

"Ah. . thank you for holding me, brother." You spoke whilst looking towards the ground as Nightmare casted you a worried glance.

"You're welcome brother but. . you've been spacing out for quite a while," Nightmare spoke up to which you could only give him a hum of acknowledgement, before you skull turned itself towards him. "Just a little bit exhausted." You responded while shrugging your shoulders, having an awkward laugh at the same time.

"... Should we rest for a moment? I don't mind doing it." Nightmare suggested while having a soft expression that you could only smile to him in return. You could only at least force a little to your skeletal body as you held Nightmare's shoulder reassuringly.

"I'm alright, see? I just needed to get some air. Nothing serious, brother." You kept on reassuring him to which fortunately and to your relief he gave in to your reasoning. Before you could continue, someone spoke up,

"Is everything okay young man?" Another monster asked to which you silently cursed considering you almost forgotten they were also there. As if it slipped from your skull for a moment there. Getting to your acting, making a smile and looking towards the monster who said it.

"Mhm, nothing to be worried at all." You waved in dismissively with your other unoccupied phalanges. Good thing that the villagers were easy to be convinced although you couldn't ignore the sinking feeling and even a bothered one.

The monster who asked just a while ago nodded in understanding before they were approached by another monster and was communicating with one another, which of course, you stared at them before breaking the stare away. You peeked a quick glance to Nightmare who was somehow, overwhelmed by something..? Of course you didn't ignore that sign from him at all.
