Who would've thought Bitna was going to walk into the garden on Jaei admitting something to Kang Ha? Nobody, not even Bitna herself.
"I'm going to protect what I like," Jaei said, "So if you must draw your bow, go for it. I will gladly stand in your way."
"Wow, wow, wow, hold up," Bitna stood in between them, creating a triangle like space with the two, "What bow are you drawing?" she turned to look at Ha before averting her attention to Jaei, "And who are you protecting?"
"It's time for you to pick a side, Ko Bitna," Jaei told her, "Just like Lee Woojin did. Is it me, or is it Kang Ha?"
"Who are you protecting?" Bitna asked. She already knew who she'd choose, but she wanted Jaei to get the idea that she was going to stand by Kang Ha because of who Jaei was willing to protect.
"Kim Rian," Jaei replied, making Bitna smirk in her mind, "He's the one I like, so I will protect him from everything that tries to ruin him."
"You'll remember those words, right?" Bitna asked.
"I'll stand by them," Jaei replied, sure of herself.
"Then don't blame anyone but yourself when you get hurt," Bitna said while walking towards Kang Ha, "You should pick, too. Are you willing to hurt her for the sake of your plan, or are you willing to let go of the plan in its entirety because you think she shouldn't get hurt?"
"I thought you were going to say I wanted to protect her or something," Kang Ha smirked, just enough for Bitna to see, "Had me scared for a second there."
"Jung Jaei," Bitna turned to look at her best friend. Her love for the girl never died down, but her family was more important to Bitna than any friendship she had built, "There are things I should leave uncovered for now, but just know, my plan never involved you. Standing in front of Kim Rian while I ruin him is your choice, so you must bear the consequences. I hope you understand."
"Do what you feel is best for you, Ko Bitna," Jaei replied, her face never forming a smile, "You're a professional, and I will consider you a friend, as long as you don't take it too far."
"Let's see what too far means for you," Bitna said, offering Jaei a smile, "I expect to stay in contact with you, whatever the outcome is."
One part of Bitna hated that she had to go against her best friend just because of a boy like Kim Rian. She didn't want their friendship to take a turn for the worse, because it was on edge even now. They loved each other, Kim Rian and Jung Jaei, but Bitna had always hoped their love wouldn't get in the way of their relationships with others. She wanted everything to go back to how it was before Woojin's birthday party, back when they were inseparable. This part of Ko Bitna was Ko Bitna.
The other part of Bitna couldn't care less. It was Jaei's choice, and she knew she couldn't change her mind regarding Kim Rian. Bitna's mind couldn't be changed either. Her parents were counting on her, and she was going to make them proud once again. The part of Ko Bitna that didn't care couldn't be called anything else except for Cha Jimin.
