"Are you done for today?" Hera asked the other three as they hung out at their lounge.
"I am," Bitna replied, even though she knew the girl didn't ask her the question.
"Me too," Woojin nodded, not looking up from his phone, "Rian, you have one more class, right?"
"At 4:00 pm. International politics." Rian replied while looking at his handwatch.
Woojin's phone started ringing, and as soon as he saw the caller's ID, the boy smirked and left the lounge.
"Woojin's acting suspicious these days. Is he seeing someone?" Hera asked Rian, completely excluding Bitna from the conversation, "How's Jaei? Still haven't heard from her?"
When he didn't answer, Hera took out a necklace from her bag and went to sit next to him. She beckoned him to put it around her neck, but he looked at her for a second before asking, "Couldn't you have asked Bitna?"
"You were closer," Hera replied, "Besides, she doesn't wear delicate jewelry like this, so I'm afraid she might break it. Maybe even on purpose."
Being alone with the two of them made Bitna want to rip her hair out. It was evident they hated her, and the girl had an idea as to why.
She noticed how close their faces were while Rian was putting on Hera's necklace, and what disgusted her even more was the fact that the boy didn't move back.
"If you're giving each other cold shoulders, then maybe I should be eyeing the throne while the queen is absent." Hera smirked, knowing Bitna had heard her even though she had her Airpods in her ears, "Right, Bitna?"
"What?" Bitna asked after removing one of her Airpods, pretending as if she didn't hear what Hera had said.
"You wouldn't be mad if I went for the throne and took it from Jaei and you, right?" Hera asked with puppy eyes, "It's not like you'd ever deserve to be on the throne anyway, since you don't have their blood, am I right?"
Even though Bitna's blood boiled at her comment, the girl decided to play it cool, "Hera, I could not care less about what you do and don't do."
"But you'd be in second place," Hera looked at her with a fake saddened expression, "Again."
Bitna could only scoff at her comment, "If rank is so important to you, then be my guest and try to take Jaei's place. We both know you're not good enough, but oh well, I guess the substitutes are never as good as the originals."
Bitna grabbed her belongings before leaving the school. She got into her car and drove back home.
She hated how they treated her, yet deep down, she knew she didn't truly care. They were shallow, pathetic. They only cared about money, looks and fame.
They all used to be so close, but when one student decided to expose one of her biggest secrets, that she was adopted, Yoon Hera and Kim Rian started despising her because of it. She had never told them who her biological parents were, fearing they'd start to completely resent her. Then again, there were worse things that happened at Woojin's birthday party, and Bitna knew that the news of her being adopted would eventually swim to the surface. Who knows, if she had told them before they got the message, would they dislike her as much as they do?
