CHAPTER EIGHT

~ Claire's POV ~

I knew something was wrong. Owen hadn't spoken to me all the way through breakfast.
"Owen. . ."
"Claire?"
"Never mind" I didn't want to ask Owen, but I knew I had to. He was hiding something from me. I and I wanted to know what.
"Claire? I know when something is wrong" I could sense him looking at me so I looked down at my lap.
"If you know something is wrong, I won't you tell me what's wrong?"
"What do you think is wrong?"
"When you called that number back, your- your face, you were so surprised. As if someone was threatening you"
"Look, you should know, that what I'm about to tell you, may hurt you. But I want you to know that I love you so much. And no one would ever come between us-"
"Owen?" I was getting really worried.

~ Owen's POV ~

I couldn't believe I was about to tell Claire.
"Lauren"
"What?"
"My ex girlfriend. She called me. I have no idea why but she did." I could see Claire's eyes growing moist.
"But like I told you, I love you. And there is nothing anyone can do about it" I stood up, walked over to Claire and wrapped my arms around her.
"Why was she calling you?" I could hear her voice shaking. I wasn't ready to make her upset.
"I-I don't know" I kissed her neck. She closed her eyes. She stood up and turned around facing me. She put her hands on my cheeks. I started kissing her neck working my way to her lips. I walked her out of the kitchen and over to the sofa. I lay her down.
We got interrupted by the knock on the front door.
"Ugh... continue later?" Claire said.
"Totally"
Claire went to the door and standing there was my worst nightmare.
