CHAPTER THIRTEEN

~ Claire's POV ~
The evening had come around and Owen and I were just lying on the sofa watching TV. The door bell rang so I jumped up to get it.
"Hell-" no one was there. I looked to the floor and lying there was a letter. It had my name on it. So as anyone would have, I opened it.

-- Dear Claire,
If you and Owen have broken up, then I see no problem in me taking him back.
Has he told you yet?
If not, ask him. I'm sure he will tell you everything.
- Lauren xx --

I was scared but more upset than I was scared.
"Who was it?" Owen rubbed my shoulder. I shrugged him off.
"You lied. I can't believe you. Why would you lie to me?"
"I-"
"Lauren. She said we broke up. What did you tell her? It wasn't Barry was it? It was Lauren." I could feel my eyes welling up with tears. One left my eye and rolled down my cheek.
"Claire please. Just listen-"
"Owen, leave. Please just, leave"

~ Owen's POV ~
I walked out of the door knowing I would one day come back.
"Claire please let me tell you what is going on."
"Owen please"
"Lauren is capable of doing harmful stuff to you and I won't let her! I love you!"
"What?"
"Claire please don't make me leave"
"Stay there and tell me what is going on" Claire wiped the tears from her eyes.
"I saw Lauren at the shops when I went shopping this morning. You know that. And she told me she wanted me back. But then she texted me asking me if we had broken up. I said yes because she is capable of many things. All the people I cared about left me because of her. She made things up and told them things. I sent her away and swore I never would see her again. But clearly. . . She is willing to do anything to get me back."
"Owen, I trust you and what you're telling me, but if this is going to work, we have to what Lauren says"
"If what is going to work?"
"Us"
"Ok. I will get Lauren out of our lives forever, ok?"
Claire reached for my hand. I reached out and grabbed hold of it. She pulled me inside. And we both laughed.
"Ok. What do we do now?"
"I find Lauren."
"That won't be too hard"
"Hello Owen!" Lauren was behind me. I turned around and an insane thought flooded through my head.
I was going to kiss Lauren.
