*Prologue*
Kathrine Anderson was 10 years old, Sarah her babysitter WAS The Beholder. Bold word WAS, she became Kathrine's babysitter knowing she is the next Beholder. Telling little Kathrine she already had her future planed was not easy, knowing Kathrine she loves having an open mind about things. In her future she wanted to find her birth parents, she wanted to travel the world before she settles down. Even though Kathrine is 10 years old she is very mature for her age.
When Sarah finally told Kathrine all that has to deal with being a Beholder, Kathrine was excited to start training. She learned how to sword fight, how to fist fight, how to survive in the most craziest of situations, and many more. Not only did Kathrine have to learn self-defence but she had to learn the history of the Guardians and the Beholders. She had to memorize almost everything from spells to prophecies.
Then finally came the day Kathrine was able to go out on her own.
Chapter 1
I'm Kathrine Anderson, but you can call me Kat. I'm 16 years old with long brown-blonde hair and blue eyes with a red-brown ring around the outside of the pupil, and I am the Beholder. I found out when I was ten years old. At that time I wasn't expecting someone to come up to me and tell me all this this stuff about me, about my future. But when I asked Maya, and she told me what the legend stated I knew it was true.
This year I am finally ready to be on my own. Since I was ten years old I had to learn self-defence, how to sword fight, learn spells and a foreign language, enchantments, and hex's. Pretty much a lot of stuff to do. Sarah told me that when I turn 16 my powers will grow, my Sight will heighten, I'll be faster and stronger than any normal human being.
I never really quite understood her until I turned 16. She gave me her number and said to call if I have any questions, then she left. She also gave me a book of spells called the Dello spettatore Possession which means 'The Beholders Possession' it lists all the types of demons, warlocks, the different types of vampires, fairies and werewolves, etc.
Right now I'm in history class contradicting, in my head, what the teacher was saying to us. Juliette didn't poison herself a Demonio -demon- did because her father paid him to. But I have to remember that this is the mundane world, the human dull world. History is my last class of the day. When I get home I have to stretch, go for a run, go through my weapons and then when it hits dusk I will hit the streets watching for any signs of the Dark Realm, which is what the Beholders and Guardians call the demons and warlocks... you get the idea.
There's only a few people who know exactly what I do, Maya (She helps me practice, spar, etc), my best friend Rose (She helps me watch things out in the streets. She is my Guardian), and most of my teachers (It comes in handy if I have to leave early or if I am talking to a Lost Soul, which looks as if I am talking to myself). Rose is very nice and helpful. She's my Guardian, which means that she helps me and can also see everything I can, the Dark Realm monsters, the only time a normal person can see one of them is when they are getting terrorized by them. We became the best of friends when I found her tying to fight one of the very powerful demons of their race alone.
She was doing a pretty good job when I saw her raise her hands and yell "I banish thee Vritra!" At first I thought that there was another Beholder, but then I noticed when she raised her left arm there wasn't a tattoo there. She spoke again in Italian "Non temo demonio, il demonio paure mi." which mean 'I fear no demon, the demon fears me.'
"Hey Rose how do you know that?" I yelled, I can tell that I had startled her because she started to run. "Rose it's me Kathrine Anderson." I said hopefully once I caught her.
"I know who you are. I was just trying to catch my breath." Rose said, she was still panting a bit but only a little bit, "how do you know what I said?"
"It was spoken in Italian, I know the language. I also know you just defeated a Vritra."
"Wait, hold on, how do you know all this? How can you see them?" Rose questioned.
I answered, "I see them because... I am The Beholder."
