The Beholder Chapter 6

*Rose's POV*

As Jace, Kathrine, and I made our way out the side of Kathrine's house, as we walked up and down the streets I started to notice that Jace is staring at Kathrine and when she looked at him he smiled.

You like her don't you? I projected into Jace's mind, cool huh? It's how we find each other if we get lost.

What ever do you mean?

*Jace's POV*

You know exactly what I mean, you keep staring at her Rose replied.

Aaaand? I questioned, that doesn't mean I like her.

I know! No worries I won't tell her

And with that her presence in my mind was gone. We walked a little while longer then decided we should split up and cover more ground. Each of us went down a branching street. It felt nice that Kathrine trusted me enough to let me go on my own before I turned 13.

You okay? I heard Kathrine's voice say to me.

Yeah I'm fine! I replied

Good I'm on Franklin Street you?

Arnold AvenueI stated

Okay you know what time it is?

I looked at my watch It's 10:30

We'll give it till midnight then call it.

Sounds fine.

We chatted for a while till 11. I ran into a man screaming because a Vampire was terrorizing him,

Uh oh got trouble on 3rd Avenue a Vampire, low level. Anyone have a shank? I said to both Kathrine and Rose, the end being sarcastically.

I'm just a block away watch for me in the shadows Kathrine said.

*Kathrine's POV*

"Jace! Are you alright?" I yelled.

"Yeah, be quite I haven't done anything yet." Jace yelled back. I got next to Jace and surveyed the situation.

"Alright you get the human away, check him out for injuries. Then help me." I said, Jace nodded and pulled out his sword, I mimicked him. I nodded my head towards him and he got out of the bushes on the right, I the left. I used the sword to reach up and tap the Vampire. It turned around and I could faintly see Jace run up to the man, but as I was distracted the Vampire took it as a chance to swipe his claws at me. I had just enough to barely get out of the way, although his claws nicked me. I let out a small whimper and said in the Vampire's language "You see you're venom doesn't affect me. It won't kill me." I said calmly.

"Ah let me guess, you're the famous girl Beholder." The Vampire said. I nodded my and said to Jace in his head.

Jace it doesn't know there are two Beholders. Don't dhow your arm act as if you're my Guardian.

Okay, the man doesn't remember anything. I'm gonna come up behind him. Keep distracting him.

"You're correct I am The Beholder. You scared?" I said sarcastically.

"No but you should be."

"Oh and why is that?"

"Because I am your worst nightmare!" He barked at me.

I just burst out laughing, "Not only is that a really bad comeback, but you are a low low level Vampire! Lower then Barok! And he is good!"

By then Jace was behind him, we both raised our swords, I jumped up in the air and swung down on his head as Jace stabbed through his heart. I pulled my sword out and took out the rag that I always have with me and wiped my sword off. Then I threw it to Jace, "Clean the sword."

Rose you okay? I asked. I haven heard from her since Jace spotted the Vampire.

I've been better. I ran into a drive by and got shot. I'm on 28 and 3rd. Please come get me, I need help walking. I got a faint reply back.

On my way with Jace, hang in there. I replied to her, out loud I said, "Jace, Rose is hurt bad. I know where she is. It's a human cause. Drive by, they must have been a gang and saw her weapon. I don't know, but let's hurry!"

"Alright." I took off down the street at top speed. We got to the street so I started scanning everywhere for her. We didn't dare yell her name just incase the people are still there. I spotted her down a little ways and up the alleyway. I motioned for Jace to follow me.

"Rose!" I whispered/yelled to her one I got to her, "How bad are you hurt?"

"I took one in the shoulder, one in both legs and one in the gut." Rose said.

"Alright well I know this is gonna hurt, but seeing as how we can't take you to the hospital this is the only way. We're gonna lift you up and run home. Please put this in your mouth." I gave her a different rag.

She nodded her head and put it in her mouth. I lifted her shirt up to see the wound. It doesn't look like the bullet hit any vital organs. "Jace you get her left side, I got the right. Lift on three. One, two, three." We hefted her up and took off down to my house. Jace and I both fell in sync with our steps. We got to my house three minutes later, not even breaking a sweat.

"Kathrine that you?" Maya said.

"Yeah it's me! Get the first aid and sewing kit!" I yelled to Maya. I'm happy she didn't ask why. "Jace go to the Kitchen and boil water, clear the table, and then get Vodka out of the pantry door to disinfect the wound." He did as I told him to, Maya came down with the supplied, "Maya put the globes and needles into the boiling water, then grab sheets that you won't mind getting stained."

She did just that. I told Jace to keep his back to me while I strip Rose. I covered her with the sheet and cut holes where the wounds are, "Jace give me the gloves and a clean wash cloth dip it in the water and ring it out." I cleaned each wound very carefully, "Get me another wash cloth and pour the Vodka on it. Rose this is gonna hurt but I'm gonna put a spell on you so you don't move okay?" She nodded, I put the spell on her and then squeezed the Vodka soaked wash cloth on each of the wounds, it hurt me to hear her cry out like that but I pushed through it. Then I went through each wound and extracted the bullets, and then I again did the Vodka process. I took the needles and sewed up the bullet wounds.

*Jace's POV*

As I stood there watching Kathrine stitch up her best friend, I felt helpless. Maya went to get pain medication for her and Kathrine is just stitching her up. "Jace go up to the guest room and turn down the bed. Then come back down and take Rose up there, but be careful to not move her to much." Kathrine said, I nodded my head and ran upstairs taking two at a time. I got to the guest room and did as I was told. Then I ran downstairs and carefully picked Rose up and took her upstairs.

"She is down for the count." I said as I came into the living room.

"Thanks. Maya just called, she got paged into work so on her way there she'll drop off the medication." Kathrine said.

"Oh. Are you alright?" I asked softly. I sat down next to her on the couch. Kathrine nodded her head. We were silent for a while. I took that time to look at her, she's about 5'4" long blond hair that goes to her waist and electric blue eyes. I on the other hand am about 6'2", brown hair, and green eyes. I play football, basketball, and some times I'll do track. "Alright well if you don't need me anymore I will be going, today wore me out. You should get some rest too. Call me if anything happens." I said to Kathrine. She nodded and with that I left.
