The alpha stood strong and tall, he radiated power and control, I could tell the moment he knew we were there. He sniffed the air like a dog, which I guess he technically is one, and growled low in his throat. I could feel it in my bones, my teeth shook with the raw power that came off him in waves. then he spoke, "Beholder! I can smell you, I can hear your heart beating, why must you hide from me?"
"I hide, Alpha, not because I'm afraid, but because we need to talk and I cannot do so without your permission to come onto your territory. Me and my guardian Jace are here, it's only the two of us and we would like to talk without a fight. Can we do that?" It seemed like the Alpha paused but it was for a millisecond.
"Alright I permit you to come onto my land, but you must promise no bloodshed will happen tonight."
"I promise I will do my best, but if I have to defend myself or Jace's life there will be blood spilled. We are coming down, we are armed so don't be alarmed . And before you ask, no we will not disarm this is how we ensure our safety." As Jace and I slowly made it down the big hill to the warehouse, I could almost sense everyone's impatience, it wrapped around me like a blanket and suffocated me. Feeling a sense of dread wash over me I halted Jace's progression into the warehouse. "We need to watch our backs, I know you can feel it, so be careful this could be a trap."
And sure enough when I tried to address the problem we came to solve, the Alpha stood up in outrage and ordered an attack. I had no time to think about my next move, no time to see if Jace was ok, I had enough time to draw my sword and say a blessing in my head before the wolf gang was on me. I slashed and dodged trying to fight my way to either the Alpha or Jace, whomever I saw first. A wolf probably ten times my size came at me throwing is big meaty hand at my face, trying to disorient me no doubt, but luck was on my side.
I sensed the intent before it actually happened so I was able to duck under his hand and affectively deliver three good hard kidney shots before grabbing my sword and affectively ending the wolfs life. He was the last obstacle to the Alpha. He stood at the top of the warehouse steps and watched the bloodbath unfold.
"How can you stand by and watch your people die! They are nothing but loyal to you and this is how you treat them! You should be ashamed to call yourself an Alpha! By the rights I call upon me, my name Kathrine Anderson first beholder of the 21st century, I declare you no longer worthy of the Alpha position! You James Kither are a disgrace to the wolves and will forever be known now as an omega. With my power, with all the Beholder power, I rip you of your status and place you as a lowly omega. Take this punishment and begone before I kill you!" I panted with the power that bursts out of me, Jace came beside me and together we watched the once feared Alpha cower as his dominance was taken from him.
"Who was his beta? Step forward and I promise no harm will come to you." A man, no older than 19, stepped forward and proudly stated that he was the beta of the pack. This time it was Jace who spoke.
"Then by my right at a Beholder of the 21st century, I Jace Mathews, give the rights of this pack over to the beta and grant him the dominance of an Alpha. He is your leader and you all will treat him as such!" he paused and looked at me, "we will take our leave but if we get any sight of another killing we will be back, and next time everyone is gonna shed some blood."
So with that Jace and I left the pack house and walked home, Sarah cleaned up our wounds and gave us dinner before we went out on our nightly hunt.
