Chapter 23: A Day In Town

You stuck around with the destroyer squad for a little while, mainly because you had to carry Laffey part of the way after she fell asleep on you.

"This girl...what am I gonna do with her?" You said, glancing back at the sleeping bun who had her head rested on your shoulder.

Yourself, Javelin and Ayanami soon found yourselves walking across a road bridge that connected the main base, to another part of the island. It was a small town that had been purpose built with the aim of providing all of the girls with a recreational area.

"I don't think I've had the time to go into the town yet. I'm interested to see just how expansive the community here is." You said.

All of a sudden, the sound of a car engine came from behind you which forced you to quickly move over to the side of the road. The car pulled up alongside and stopped, the window rolling n down to reveal who was inside.

"Ah, good day to you Commander! What a lovely surprise this is!"

It was Illustrious with her usual beaming smile spread across her face. Belfast was sat across from her, bowing her head when she saw you.

The driver of the car was London, who smiled and gave you a small wave of getting when the window was rolled down.

"Hey Illustrious! Hey Belfast! This really is a surprise! I didn't expect to bump into you two here!" You replied, noticing Unicorn sat in the space next to her.

When she realised you had spotted her, Unicorn smiled shyly and waved at you, making you wave back at her.

"And Unicorn too! Today is a very blessed day!" You said, making Unicorn giggle.

"So the prisoner escort duty you assigned to yourself has led you all the way out here then?" Illustrious asked, referring to the decisions that had been made in the meeting shortly before Ayanami woke up.

"That makes it sound worse than it actually is...I only worded it like that because we were in a meeting. I have to keep up my reputation as a Commander." You said.

"But, I am showing our guest around, with the help of Javelin and a sleepy bunny." You said, pointing at Laffey who was still napping on your back.

"I see. Well, you are more than welcome to join us in the car. There is plenty of space for you all!" Illustrious suggested.

You didn't think twice and accepted the offer, managing to squeeze yourself into the car along with everyone else. It did get a little cramped, but you managed to move Laffey off your back and into your lap, where she laid happily and kept on sleeping.

The lack of space did mean you were half sitting in Belfast's lap as well. Though this was something that did not bother the head maid at all. A sly grin was plastered on her face the whole ride into town.

When the car eventually came to a stop, the destroyer girls quickly jumped out, excited to have a look around. Even Laffey had finally woken up from her nap.

Before you could follow them, Belfast put a hand on your shoulder, the sly grin not shifting from her face.

"You know Master...you're becoming bolder everyday...do keep in mind that I do enjoy seeing you get flustered though. It is rather endearing~." She said.

"B-Belfast-." You tried speaking, but was interrupted when the maid put a finger to your lips.

"Shhh. You need not say anything now. Just remember, I don't mind what happened. I know it was merely because of the lack of space. You need not worry about making me uncomfortable." She said, gently cupping your cheek with her hand.
