Riley and the paladins had just come back from Olkarion, and had also had a small run in with Tara again. According to Pidge, who was the only one who had seen her, it was... 'not what she'd expected'. By which she meant...

"You didn't tell me your friend is a girl," Pidge laughed nervously to Riley.

"Oh, maybe you weren't there," Riley shrugged it off. She took off her helmet and Pidge did the same.

Pidge shook her head. "Okay, let me rephrase that: You didn't tell me your friend is a hot badass evil girl."

Riley laughed. "Oh, so that's what this is about? You're having a gay crisis?" Pidge crossed her arms in protest.

"You're my friend, I can't believe you gatekept someone like Tara from me." Pidge's words were serious but there was childish banter in her voice that made them both laugh. It was true, Riley did know Pidge is a lesbian, but that wasn't why she never talked about Tara. It was more confusing and painful, and she didn't want to make assumptions about what side Tara was on before she was sure.

"She's a bad guy, Pidge. I think. Just don't fall for her. Bad idea."

Pidge flashed a mischievous grin. "Mmm, mildly noted."

"What did you guys talk about anyway?"

Pidge's face immediately flushed as she tried not to recall it. She had been waiting near the green lion for the paladins' signal to get them, and was looking for information on her brother and father in the meantime. That was when she noticed Tara. They both figured out they were on opposite sides pretty quickly, but decided on a temporary truce while they both tried to find the information they needed. Pidge, on her family, and Tara, on her past. But neither of them got the chance to when they were interrupted by the paladins asking Pidge to pick them up.

Pidge had grabbed her wrist in protest, trying to tell Tara what she knew about Altea. "No, listen-"

"Sorry, can't. It was fun talking to you brainiac, but I'm not into guys anyway," Tara winked and waved, pulling her wrist away, "And more importantly, I've really gotta get going now."

Pidge raised an eyebrow in confusion, "Same, but- wait, why are you clarifying you're straight?"

"I take back what I said about you being a brainiac."

Pidge realised with a jolt where the confusion was and a blush rose to her cheeks, "Wait, I'm not a guy!"

Tara paused and turned back to face the brunette again, only this time she was slightly pink, "Wait, you're a girl?" She quickly regained her composure and bent down to meet Pidge's eye level with a smirk, "Oh. Never mind, I'm listening."

"So you are straight? Why would you assume that I think you're gay?" Pidge cocked her head in confusion. Tara stood up and rubbed her head, giving her a weird look. Pidge thought her expressions weirdly reminded her of Lance.

"What are you talking about?" Tara rolled her eyes. "Hon, I'm a lesbian."

"Well, same, but- WAIT YOU'RE A GIRL?!"

Tara raised her eyebrows, "Uh, yes? Wait- YOU'RE ALSO A LESBIAN?"

"THIS EXPLAINS SO MUCH!" They chorused at once.

The girls looked at each other for a moment before bursting out laughing.

"No, wait, you're the bad guy, quit joking around with me," Pidge complained, ignoring the remains of laughter tugging at her lips.

Tara shrugged, "Guess it's all part of the charm, sweetheart." And with that, they had parted ways.
