One afternoon, Charlie is walking down the hall after finishing some paperwork and today's exercise. Just then, an unfamiliar melody and singing voice begins to reach Charlie's ears.
Song:
Honno sukoshi ijiwaru na
(There may have been the slightest bit of spite)
Confused, Charlie wonders, "Huh? Who's that? And where's that music coming from?"
Song:
denwa no kiri kata o shita no
(In the way that I hung up the phone on you)
Charlie looks down to hear the voice coming down the hall.
Charlie smiles, "The song is very nice," And decides to follow the voice.
Song:
datte kyuu ni shinken na
(But the way that your voice got so serious)
koe de hanashidasu no zurui
(All of a sudden when you spoke, was unfair)
Charlie walks down the hall to find the source of the voice, and it leads her to one of the rooms. She peeks inside to see Aurora singing as she rocks on the rocking chair with Tilla in her arms. She also notices that on the small furniture is a music box. The box is pink decorated with white angel feathers and has angel wings and a halo on the side, along with purple flower petals. Music comes out of the box as there is a little angel-like ballerina twirls on it.
Aurora:
'suki da yo' to iwase tai-n desho dakedo
('I love you' is what you want to make me say, isn't it?)
kikasete hagenai
(But I can't let you hear it yet.)
Charlie tries to lean close, but accidentally pushes the door open, making it creek.
Aurora stops singing and looks to see Charlie peeking into the room.
Sheepish, Charlie says, "Oh um, sorry about that. I heard some singing and it sounded beautiful."
Aurora blushes and says, "Thanks Charlie."
Tilla yawns and looks very tired.
She softly says, "Sleepy... very sleepy..."
"I know Tilla. It's time for your nap," Aurora says.
"If you don't mind me wondering, what was that song you were singing?" Charlie asks.
"It's a song my mother used to sing to me and my brothers and sisters. The song is called Shiawase no Hane, meaning Wings of Happiness," Aurora says.
Then turns to the music box, "She always signs the song with her old music box. My mom told me that dad gave it to her for their wedding anniversary. From what told me, she used to love that song a lot as a child, and still sings it as an adult to us. She passed it down to me on my eighth birthday."
She then sadden, "I always missed listening to her sing the song since she passed, but singing the song myself with her helps me to remind myself of her."
Charlie can see the sad expression on Aurora's face.
Charlie asks, "You miss your mom, huh."
"Yes. We all miss her when she died, especially dad," Aurora says.
