A few hours later, Jake asked his parents if he and Rogue could visit the both of them because Jake felt it would be the right idea to come clean to his parents and let them know that he was a mutant. They said he was welcome to visit them, and so Jake and Rogue were at his childhood home. "Hello Anna, it's nice to see you again," said Jacob. "You as well Mr Phillips," said Rogue. Jake cleared his throat and asked, "guys, can you all have a seat?" Lisa smirked and joked, "Chris Hansen much, big bro?"

"Lisa, this is rather serious." Jake said nervously. Lisa understood as she and her parents sat on the family couch. As Rogue sat on a chair next to Jake, he asked, "Dad, how well do you know of Anna's powers?"

"I know that you gained Carol Danvers's superpowers through your absorption powers," said Jake, "so I understand how your powers work, Anna. It's very admirable how you turned over a new leaf."

"Well, we found something out through Mr Xavier and Mr McCoy," said Jake as he breathed in, "Mom, Dad, Lisa... I'm a mutant." He looked at his family, and Rogue was expecting a negative reaction the same way her father negatively reacted to finding out she was a mutant and disowning her. Jake's parents were surprised to say the least. "How long ago did you have the mutant gene?" Rosalind asked. "It's been a few hours since I was told this," said Jake, "apparently I've been a mutant since I was 15 and I didn't even realize it."

"Jake's mutant powers are that he's immune to my absorption powers and others like me," explained Rogue, "so in other words, Jake can touch me without gettin' hurt or dyin'."

"Other than that, those are the only mutant superpowers I really have," said Jake. He looked down and said, "I just hope you're not embarrassed or mad at me because I'm a mutant..." His father looked at him with care and sympathy and said, "son... Why would we be embarrassed or mad at you for being a mutant? You shouldn't have to feel ashamed for being born with something that's beyond your control. You're still our son, and we love you for who you are."

"Your father's right," agreed Rosalind, "it doesn't matter what happens whether you decide to change your religion or political belief, your sexuality or anything else. We'll love you no matter what, Jake. Because family always matters." Jake's parents and Lisa all hugged Jake, and Jake was happy to know that his family accepted him as a mutant. Rogue couldn't help but feel a little sad, because she remembered how cruel her father Owen was, calling her a disgrace because of her mutant powers. She softly started crying, secretly wishing her father would turn around and want to reconcile with her. Jake noticed Rogue crying and asked, "Anna? What's wrong?"

Rogue wiped her tears and said, "Ah'm sorry, Jake. It's just, seeing your family accept you for being a mutant, it's a reminder of what Ah don't have... When a girl loves her own father, y'all don't know what it's like to be called a mutant freak by the one you trust..." She put her gloves back on and Jacob said, "Anna, usually we have Jake visit us every Sunday for dinner. You're welcome to join us for Sunday dinner with Jake, that way you won't feel alone. Just know that you have an ally in the mutant community in the Phillips family." Lisa nodded and said, "I could also hang out with you and Jake, if you need another friend." Rogue smiled, touched by the fact that Jake's family was willing to open themselves up to her and welcome her in. Their kindness was 10 times the kindness of Mystique and her biological parents and equal to Charles. "Ah think Ah know a few girls at Xavier's school around your age that would love to make friends with you." Rogue said to Lisa. Jake smiled at his parents and said, "thank you both for accepting us." Rogue was happy to know that things were going to be okay. And part of her wanted to admit to Jake that she had feelings for him. But she wanted to wait for awhile before taking any further more steps.
