It's been two weeks since the new guy moved in and I've been seeing him everywhere. I'm dead serious; he's in the library everyday at lunch, he walks across the street from me to and from school, and is always outside doing yard work when I decide go for a walk or run with peanut. And every time we look up at each other, he smiles and waves while I frown at him and walk away. I guess he doesn't know that I don't want him to make any contact with me.

It's not that I'm trying to be mean, I'm just not used to people paying attention to me unless it's meant to hurt me. I think that's why I neglect everyone. I'm scared to get hurt.

You deserve it though.

"Daniela!" Josh yelled from downstairs, making my groan in annoyance. I stood up from my desk and slowly made my way down the stairs. "Yeah?"

"Can you go next door and give the new neighbors the mail? The mail man put it in our mail box instead of theirs," he said handing me a couple of letters. Lazy bastard. Without saying anything to him, I walked out the door with peanut following close by. Poor thing probably thinks we're out for a walk. Maybe afterwards.

Slowly dragging myself to their porch, I rang the doorbell and waited as I patted peanuts head. Soon the door opened to reveal a short lady, with intense green-blue eyes, she was gorgeous honestly. "Hi! What can I do for you?" She warmly spoke, making me soften up a bit.

She reminds you of your mom, doesn't she Danny?

"Umm..." I hummed, not being about to think clearly for a moment.

"Are you okay sweetie?" She cooed, placing a hand on my arm.

"Yeah, sorry," I said shaking my head a little," your mail man but your mail in our mail box, I just came to return it."

"Oh thank you honey!" She said with a bright smile, "what your name?"

"Oh, sorry. I'm Daniela, I live across the street from you," I said thumbing the house behind me. She looked over my shoulder at the house.
"Oh, isn't that nice! I'm Pattie," she smiled and came in for a hug, catching me by surprise.

"Oh you should met my son!" She said giggling, "you'll love him and he'll love you!"

"Oh no it's o-"

"Justin!"

Great.

She grabbed my wrist and pulled me inside her house along with peanut and started to call him again. I really don't want to meet this guy, I mean I have been ignoring him for a reason.

"I'm coming, I'm coming," he yelled from upstairs. I groaned to myself and looked at peanut, who was busy getting love from Pattie. At least he's happy.

Soon, the new kid turned the corner from the stairs and came face to face with me. I never really looked at him before since I've only seen him from far distances. He had dirty blond hair that was perfectly styled into a quiff, honeycomb eyes, and was much taller than I am. Everyone is basically taller than me. He was overall pretty damn cute but that doesn't mean anything.

"Hey," he said with a small smile, "I'm Justin."

I didn't answer for a while, I mostly stood there and looked at the ground. Until I remembered that Pattie was here with us and I didn't want to seem rude.

Mom would've thought so too.

"Hi," I softly responded, finally looking at him in the eye. I didn't smile though, so I kept my face expressionless. "I have to go now."

"So soon?" Pattie said in between giggles since she was busy getting her face licked by peanut. I think he really likes her. "Yeah, I have more homework to finish."
