I groaned as I turned off the car and rested my head on the steering wheel. Caleb just ran out of the car and headed inside the house since he has his own key to the house. Today at work was busy, busy, busy. And to make it worse, they changed my hours. Now, I have work from 3 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. And it sucked for my homework and studying hours. Luckily for me, I have to go in on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. I don't have to work all week and take weekends off anymore. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays are now my days to catch up on whatever it is I have to do. Maybe this isn't so bad after all.
I locked the front door and was instantly greeted by my furry friend as soon as I turned around. I bent down to his level and gave him a kiss on the nose. I swear, this dog loves me more than anyone has in my life.
"That's not fair," Caleb whined as he stood ahead of me, "why does peanut like you more? I knew him longer!"
"Because I don't terrorize the poor thing and I most certainly didn't give him a stupid name," I said rolling my eyes .
"He was smaller when we got him, I swear!" He giggled as I stood up and walked into the kitchen.
"Are you hungry?" I asked as I opened the fridge. Caleb soon sat at the bar that looked into the kitchen and nodded his small head. "What would you like to eat?"
"Pizza!" He loudly yelled as he smiled big, showing me where once stood his two front teeth. He lost all his other teeth except the front ones until a month ago. It was weird but funny since he couldn't bit things properly.
"Good choice, I don't feel like cooking for you." He rolled his big eyes playfully. I took out my iPhone and called Pizza Hut, whose number was already in my contact list since he always wants pizza when it just us two. Sarah doesn't approve of greasy foods so he doesn't have pizza often and me being me, I was always the one giving him some when he asks.
I ordered a large pepperoni pizza before I told him the address and hung up. "Okay, it'll be here in 30 minutes so do your homework while we wait."
"But I did it at Dylan's already!" He sighed as he propped his head in his hand and his elbow on the granite counter top.
"Let me check it then." I sat next to him and he handed me his school folder. We always checked his work because he'll BS it so he could play on his Xbox. I looked through his math work, solving the easy questions in my head, and moved on to his reading assignment. "You read for 30 minutes?"
"Yup, I wrote the summary of the chapter book too." He was right. He did write his summary in complete sentences and did his science, spelling, and social studies work. I was actually surprised he did everything correctly. "Alright, go play on your game then."
He cheered and ran off to the living room, starting up the gaming console. I shook my head and put his folder back into his backpack, hanging it on the hook by the door ,where jackets, Sarah's purse, and Josh's satchel were hung as well, and went to my room. I could never leave my stuff anywhere except my room. I feel like they'd go through it or something. Or maybe it's because I just have trust issues. I'm a very secretive person and I don't like it when people invade my privacy. Like my room, no one goes in there, especially because peanut guards my room when I'm not here. Another reason why I adore the animal.
Soon, my thoughts were interrupted when the door bell rung and I heard an 'I'll get it!' from Caleb. He knew where the money Josh left us for food was so I let him handle it, he's a big kid. I continued doing my Spanish homework but stopped when my name was called from downstairs.
"What?" I sighed as I reached the end of the stairs as Caleb sat back down on the couch.
"A boy is asking for you," he resumed the game, "he's at the door waiting for you."
