Algebra ended up being my last class for the day. I quickly left the classroom, my thoughts were already at the upcoming training sessions this weekend.
I took out my phone to text Eve.
*Hey, where are you?*
“Behind you, idiot.” She tapped my left shoulder only to appear on my right side.
“You ready to go?”
“Of course.” She gave me a competing smile. “Last one to the training has to clean up for a whole week.”
“Alright.”
We both started running into the same direction at the same time. There was only one place at the school where no one could see us. That was on top of the building, behind a cooling unit.
The second quickest way was to take the stairs. I was almost sure Eve would be taking that one. The quickest way, however, was to run behind the building and fly up onto the roof. There were some risks that way but most of the time no one spent time behind school. People just wanted to get home.
I took a quick few strides until I reached my desired destination. Eve had walked into the building as I had assumed. I double checked the area, making sure no one was going to see me.
I finally let the mist escape my body. First, it slowly lifted me off the ground until I started pushing it. It blew me upwards quicker and quicker until I finally was on top of the building.
Without wasting much time, I flew to the cooling unit and changed from my regular clothes into my suit.
“Finally.” I breathed in the fresh air as I finally could let my powers just flow through my body. I didn't have to contain them when I was in my suit. They could come out of whatever part of my body without me having to hide them or having to concentrate on not letting loose.
The door to the roof opened and a panting Eve appeared. “You're not winning this time, Hart.”
“We'll see, Wilkins.” And with those words I finally pushed myself off the ground. I loved this feeling. Letting go of control I had to constantly keep up when I was around other people who weren't superheroes.
I felt the wind rushing around my ears as I finally picked up speed, breaking the sound barrier for the first time today.
“Woohoo.” I yelled as I flew even quicker, rolling around my own axis a few times. The city rushed by me. But nothing melted together. I still could make out every single building and human standing on the ground or behind a window.
“How much I love this.” I mumbled to myself.
“Surely, you do.” Eve said next to me.
“You can't tell me you don't love flying around in the air. Completely free from everything.” I turned to look at her.
“I do. But not as much as you enjoy this. Since you're the one who has to contain her powers.” She smiled at me. Which I returned, making another twist in the air until I was on my back. I put my arms under my neck and crossed my legs.
“You're really enjoying this.”
“Always.” I replied and let go of whatever control over my powers I still subconsciously had. It pushed me even quicker, as I resumed my usual flying position.
It only took me another minute to finally arrive at Teen Team’s headquarters by the bridge.
“I won.” I yelled as I finally landed on top of the bridge.
I let the mist still float around me.
“Egh. I won't let you win next time, Hart.”
“Sure you won't.” I rolled my eyes at her.
