The Illusion of Freedom in My Country

Freedom, oh how elusive your guise
In the land where shadows breed lies
Six months passed, hope set alight
Yet subjugation loomed in the night

Gifted to us with strings attached
Bound tightly, our voices dispatched
A power play, a mere charade
For the few, a masquerade

Culture's chains grip with icy hold
As we walk a path desolate and cold
A nation lost, seeking true release
But never tasting freedom's peace

In the Philippines, a haunting cry
For true liberation, a distant sky
No taste of freedom on our tongue
In shadows dark, our songs unsung

Beauty masked by the veil of despair
Birth of longing, dreams threadbare
Desire stifled by chains of fear
Identity lost in shadows near

A journey marred by disappointment's touch
Spirituality adrift in corruption's clutch
War drums beat in the distance far
As illusions crumble beneath fate's harsh star

Adversity and ambition intertwine
In this world where shadows define
Art tainted by darkness' hand
Being yourself deemed contraband

Betrayal whispers on the night breeze
Blindness masks reality with ease
In this kingdom ruled by blues so deep
Books of truth hidden while we sleep

Butterflies trapped by chaos' dance,
Colors fade under deceitful glance,
Conflict echoes through the crying night,
The corruption of shadows distorts all light.

In darkness deep, our hearts reach out,
Yearning for freedom beyond doubt,
Yet shackled still by unseen chains,
Injustice reigning over our remains.
