(Sophie's POV)
What was I thinking??
"Woah, you actually... You actually took it off." Keefe breathed.
"Yeah." I whispered, staring at the hunk of metal at my feet. I picked it up and handed it to Keefe so he could chuck it in the trash can. His smile glowed and I wanted to melt.
"So... Are you gonna come home now?" He whispered, looking hopeful.
"Yeah. I think I am."

(A/N: Hi guys. I'm kinda giving up on the actual plot cause I'm lazy... But don't worry! This story isn't over. Now I'm shifting to oneshots and headcannons that I randomly have when I'm trying to fall asleep... Oops I said too much. Okay, enjoy!)
(This one is gonna be super romantically sad so just brace yourself)
(Keefe's POV)
The Neverseen were around us on all sides. Mommy Dearest, Ruy, and Fintan had escaped Exile. I held Sophie's hand tightly, us transmitting a plan to levitate over them and teleport to safety.
But the second we had agreed on the plan, Gisela attacked with the stellarlune crystal that was supposed to be part of my stupid legacy. Me and Foster barely dodged it before the crystal destroyed a dozen trees behind us.
I was breathing hard as I finally let go of Sophie's hand to grab a goblin throwing star. Sophie's eyes widened.
"WATCH OUT!" She screamed. Before I could grab her hand and dodge the crystal shard, she jumped in front of me.
"NO!" I yelled, shredding my vocal chords. It didn't matter. The crystal shard struck the love of my life. Or... Maybe she had become the loss of my life.
My mom's evil cackling didn't matter anymore. I scooped Foster up and sprinted into the trees. We finally got to a safe clearing as I examined her.
"You're... You're fading..." I whispered. "And it's all my fault."
Foster's eyes were barely open, her gaze calm and knowing. Like she knew she wasn't going to make it.
"Don't look at me like that. We have to get you to Elwin." I insisted. I reached for my Imparter, but Foster's weak hand gently covered mine.
"Keefe, it's my time." She whispered.
"No." I choked out. "You can't..."
"Don't feel guilty. I had to save you." She mumbled. "I love you." She brought my face down to hers and kissed me. For the last time. Tears rolled down my cheeks. I took a breath and whispered, "I love you more than the moon loves the stars. And... I'm not letting the Neverseen do this to anyone else. Maybe it's time I'm the responsible one."
Foster smiled as her breathing slowed. "Lots of people care about you, Keefe. But I care about you the most."
Tears ran down both of our cheeks now as I decided there was time for Team Foster-Keefe to still win. At least, for a minute or so.
Then I began to slowly sing. "You are my sunshine..." I cradled Foster's head in my lap, staring at her for what might be the last time. "My only sunshine... You make me happy... When skies are gray..." One of my tears fell on her tunic as she stared at me, her face peaceful but sad. Like she was going to miss me. My breathing became ragged as I held her closer to my chest. "You'll never know, dear... How much I love you." My voice cracked, my vision blurry from tears. The last line was barely audible as I whispered, "Please don't take my sunshine... Away..." Foster's breathing slowed, and her eyes closed.
Then she whispered, "Team Foster-Keefe... Will always be cooler." And as more tears fell from my face, she breathed her last breath. The sunshine was gone, and now that it would never come back... I was alone in the darkness. Forever awaiting my revenge on the Neverseen.
*Did you cry? Because I did, and I was the one writing it.
Anyway, hope it was at least romantic. Okeydokey, gotta go.
TEAM FOSTER-KEEFE FOR THE WIN!
