When the landlord arrives, Jungkook goes to wake Taehyung. He doesn't want to disturb him because the man looks so peaceful and innocent, calm, as if nothing happened earlier. His smooth skin glows in the soft light.

Jungkook nudges a shoulder gently, but he doesn't stir straight away, only the eyelashes flutter, shadowing the soft cheeks. Then, suddenly, he twists and turns, chest heaving and hands pushing at Jungkook – his mind still tangled in a dream. The terrified whine rising from him is pitiful.

"Taehyung. Tae. Wake up. It's just a dream."

Jungkook speaks quietly while he shakes the shoulder tucked under the soft blanket. Taehyung jumps, his face twisting in fear and he starts to struggle, his sleepy eyes can't see who it is or where he is.

"No! Let me go!" His fingers grip tightly around Jungkook's arm and scratch.

"Taehyung, it's me, Jungkook. You're ok. Hey. You're ok." He tries to pacify the terrified creature but the mad flailing continues.

When nothing else works, he quickly cups Taehyung's face, sliding his thumbs over the cheekbones over and over. Leaning almost close enough to kiss, he stares straight into Taehyung's eyes.

"You're safe with me, Taehyung. I'd never hurt you. I promise. Look at me."

For the longest moment, Taehyung stares and stares, swallowing, just to make sure it's really Jungkook and not someone – or something – else.

Breathing heavily and with his eyes brimming with tears, Taehyung finally stops struggling, his slender fingers wrapping around Jungkook's wrists, no longer to fight... but to hold on as if Jungkook is the only thing stopping him from falling.

"Ohmygod, I'm s-sorry. Fuck." Tears stream down but as they fall, Jungkook wipes them away.

"It's okay, you're OK." He dares to lean a forehead against Taehyung's and for a moment they just breathe.

Jungkook pulls back a little, speaking softly. "The landlord and the locksmith are here, changing your locks as we speak, you're going to be able to go home in a minute." He swipes Taehyung's dark curls away from his eyes. The move is so affectionate that Taehyung can't breathe. He doesn't want to go home, he wants to stay here and be looked after by Jungkook.

"Don't worry, with the new locks, no one will be able to get to you."

It all hits Taehyung when he gets back in his flat.

It's too big, too dark and definitely too empty. Tonight, he gets no comfort from his earth-toned safe haven littered with plants and thick rugs and comfortable furniture covered in cushions and blankets, he merely heats up a hot water bottle and sinks into his bed nestled in between piles of books on the nightstands.

He may or may not think about a certain someone when the warmth cocoons him and he falls asleep.

Jungkook, on the other hand, is not blessed with sleep.

He tosses and turns, thinking about those dark chocolate almond eyes, soft lips and deep voice. His body hums, it feels invigorated, brought to life because of Taehyung.

There is a deep... hankering. He's left thirsty. Craving for something.

He can't stop smelling Taehyung or the bakery. The sweet smell is in his nostrils constantly, like it's burnt onto the surfaces.
