Ever since that night at the ballroom, Serena hasn't talked of looked at Sirus in a while. Sirus stood before his father with his black eye and busted lip. He knew that Alitar wasn't going to hold back. His father glares at him, his eyes full of fury and disdain. Alitar is furious with his son for ruining the ball and for making Serena cry. Sirus is silent. He's too tired from everything that has happened lately to even put up a fight against his father's anger. "You disgust me," Alarith's voice was full of contempt for his youngest son. He glared at him with pure hatred. Sirus flinched back as his father stepped forward, his anger growing stronger.

"You have no idea how many people you have embarrassed tonight. Making a scene in front of all of our guests and making your own sister cry. Do you have any idea how much you have dishonored the family?" Sirus flinched back further. He had expected Alitar to be angry, but he couldn't believe the look of hatred on his father's face. Sirus' silence made his father even more enraged. He couldn't believe that his youngest son had nothing to say for himself. "You don't even have the strength to speak up for yourself. You are the weakest, most spineless boy I have ever seen. I should have drowned you when you were born. It would have spared me all of this humiliation."

After Alitar was done beating and degrading Sirus he walked into Serenas room who's calmer down her cheeks still stained with tears as Eres was sitting in one of the chairs in Serena's room, comforting his little sister as she cried. Seeing Serena upset just broke his heart. He hated it when she was always sad because of their dad's favoritism. He knew she just wanted her dad's love and attention. Eres rubbed her back gently, trying to soothe her. Serena sniffled and wiped away her tears. She loved her big brother. Even though he was always grumpy and irritable, he always looked out for her. Eres hugged his little sister tightly and rocked her back and forth. He hated seeing her cry.

"Eres..do you hate me?" Serena whimpers softly against her brothers chest. Eres' heart ached hearing his little sister's question. He didn't want her to think for a second that he hated her. He glanced over at her and smiled. No matter how much their parents acted like they favored her, he always loved her. Eres hugged his little sister tighter. "No little sis. I don't hate you, I could never hate you. You know that, right?"

"Sirus said that you and him hate me..."Eres gave her a pained look. He didn't want to lie to her, but he also didn't want to hurt her more than she already was. After a moment, he sighed softly and spoke back to her.

"A lot of things were said at the ball that shouldn't have been. Sirus didn't mean what he said. He's just mad at our parents. And don't worry, I don't hate you. I hate the favoritism, but not you."
"I- I'm sorry..i didn't know that daddy had favorites..he always told me that boys don't need as much affection as girls do." Serena said softly, sniffling, feeling guilty over being a cause of her brothers unhappiness. Eres nodded softly, he wished that their dad didn't treat his sisters differently, but he also knew that it was his dad's words that made Serena think that she was more special because she was a girl.

"It's not your fault that he treats you like this darling, don't blame yourself. You're beautiful just the way you are. You don't need to try so hard. You don't have to beg for his love like he's some kind of god. You're my little sister, and I love you no matter what." Serena smiled, hugging Eres tightly, who chuckled and hugged her back. Alitar stepped inside the room, and he looked incredibly furious. He couldn't believe that his sons were getting along with his precious little princess. "What are you doing in here with her?" Alitar's voice was harsh as he glared at the two of them. Eres glanced up at him. He didn't care about his father's displeasure. He was not going to leave his little sister alone. "We're just talking dad," Eres replied in a firm voice. Alitar's eyes narrowed as he glared at his son.

"Just talking? Just talking???" Alitar stepped forward, his hand clenched in a fist. Eres' expression never wavered. He was determined to stand his ground."She's my little sister, and I'm going to spend time with her because I want to. Is there a problem with that?" Eres kept his gaze straight ahead. He wasn't afraid of his father. Alitar paused for a moment. He couldn't believe how daring his son was being. He took a deep breath and stepped forward once more, but this time, he lashed out and slapped Eres across the face.

Daddy! Why would you do that?! Serena said, shocked by her father hitting her older brother. "Stay out of this princess," Alitar growled as he glared at his little daughter. Eres' face was red from his father's blow. He clenched his fists but restrained himself from lashing out. He held back because his little sister was present, but he was livid. "If I want to hit my damn son, then I can do so when I please," Alitar snarled at his little daughter. Serena looked scared. She always got scared whenever her father got so angry like this. She looked back at her older brother. He was still gripping his cheek where her daddy had hit him. Serena's bottom lip started to quiver as she looked back at him. Serena was not used to her father being angry at her. He always was kind and soft to her. She felt tears fill her eyes.

"Leave the room, princess, now." Alitar's voice was cold and angry. It was like he had switched personalities the moment he realized that his precious little princess had seen one of his outbursts. Serena was scared of her father now. This was definitely the darkest side of him that she had ever seen. Serena nodded quickly and turned to leave the room. She knew better than to argue with her father when he was like this. She tried not to cry as she turned away, she was so scared. Serena left the room as his harsh words still rang in her ears.•Alitar was still seething with anger as he turned to face his son. He didn't like how bold and defiant his son was trying to be. Eres was glaring at his father as he rubbed his cheek.
