I didn't text her all weekend because I texted her last. So if she wanted to respond she would have.
That was my mindset during the week as well. She didn't text me at all. Didn't even read the message.
And that wasn't even the worst part of it all. Yesterday, I acted like Olivia didn't exist because she was talking to Natalie. And that's not even the worst of it! I twirled Natalie's hair around my finger and threatened Ollie's spot on the team! One of my best flyers!
So today, I almost didn't go to her game. But Olivia asked me if I was going so then the whole team decided to go and I was roped into it.
"Olivia." I grabbed Ollie's arm before we went into the arena, letting go as fast as I grabbed her, "I- You can't like Natalie."
She smiled, "Are you finally gonna tell me about the major crush you have on her?"
"What? I-" I sighed. "Yeah. So just- Please?"
She smiled and pushed my arm, "I'll back off. Her teammate is cute anyway. The little curly haired one." She furrowed her eyebrows, "Kitty I think."
I smiled at her, "Yeah, she's a good kid."
Right after the game, I waited by the locker room
"I'm sad you didn't punch anyone this time." I was standing behind her with my arms crossed over my chest, hoping she didn't hate me.
She spun around to see me, a smile plastered on her face, "You came!"
I pulled her into a hug before I could second guess myself, "I won't ever miss a game." I held her tight, "Wanna come over?" I whispered so only she could hear, "My parents aren't gonna be home so we can watch TV in the living room."
She pulled away, that smile still on her face, "I would love to." She threw her bag over her shoulder, "I have to take Kitty home but I can come right after."
I smiled and let go of her arm, "Okay." I smiled at her friends, "I'm gonna head out but I'll see you later."
She smiled harder, "Bye, Scarlett."
I practically skipped out of the arena and on the way to my house, I listened to Clairo.
Tonight, I realized I'm an idiot. I know she likes me. I can tell. I think she knows I like her. Maybe she is starting to suspect it.
Not only have I stayed away from boys during high school, I stayed away from the girl I could have had this entire time. Even just as a friend, I've never had a connection so soon with someone and it scares me. So I messed it up.
"Mom!" I set my keys on the table by the door and took my shoes off, "Natalie's coming over!"
"Of course she is." Chip rolled his eyes as he came down the staircase, "Can you just admit that you're a-" He stopped talking when he saw Mom in the doorframe.
Angie ran to the top of the staircase and looked down at me, "Natalie's coming over?"
I nodded and walked up the stairs towards her, "Help me clean my room." I ran down the hall.
Angie followed close behind me, "Not only are you letting someone invade your personal space," She picked up some dirty clothes off the floor, "but you're cleaning."
I glared at her, "I- Whatever." I put my shoes on their shelves in my closet, "She's cool."
Angie's grin grew, "You are so cooked."
I threw a Croc at her, "You- I'm not- Can you shut up?"
That only made her start laughing, "Holy shit! You totally have a fat crush on her, don't you!?"
